With Katrina, some of the first information we and our house guests could get about BSL was satellite footage from NASA.
Does anyone have the NASA contacts to see if satellites are being moved for comparable coverage of this storm?

After Hurricane Laura made landfall in southwestern Louisiana, the Suomi NPP joint NASA/@NOAA satellite captured infrared nighttime imagery of the storm, with cloud cover extending from Houston, Texas east to west of New Orleans, Louisiana. The latest: NASA Blog on Laura

For curiosity sake:
Can someone explain to me why Weather channel keeps showing Sela under a tornado and flash flood watch?

Because SELA is under a tornado and flash flood watch.

b/c the NWS has put SELA under tornado and flash flood watches
there's a feeder band from Laura that stretches down to the Gulf over SELA from Laura... and the storms in those feeder bands can drop tropical tornadoes and heavy rains

There’s what looks like a really nice house next to it. I’m assuming it’s for some rich cat with a plane to go hunt/fish.

Not heading back to LCH until early morning, someone was able to drive by my house. Lot of shingle/tar paper damage, roof looks like a complete replace. Lost a turbine so attic exposed until I can tarp. Junction box hanging off house.
Huge oak in the back made a mess but stayed off the house.
Of my friends and family, it’s about 50/50 on minimal aesthetic damage versus total loss. The wind damage is visibly worse than that of Rita, based on the photos I’ve seen, by far. Expected the trees and power lines, but the houses just completely blown out are... just... wow.

Guessing that house does not exist anymore assuming the levee was not topped

There is a lot of good hunting and fishing in the area. There are very wealthy people who like to hunt and fish but do not want to drive hours to get there.
