I think that’s directly because mandatory evacuation would be taking place during Marco. I pulled back into Lake Charles right after Rita passed before any cleanup. No thanks.

What are the schools districts around the Baton Rouge area going to do? It’s comical at this point. 2 days off for beautiful weather and then head back to school when we might actually receive tropical storm conditions depending on exact landfall, storm size, etc. Glad I don’t make those calls!

My wife is a photographer out here and they have a farmer that does approximately 5 acres of sunflowers every year. She is booked solid for people wanting to take family, senior pictures, etc. in the sunflower fields. I went last year to help the wife and did not return this year. It was hot, humid, and pretty damn miserable. I didn't get paid so...I'm out

lol I'm PAYING to do this!! (cost of seed, fertilizer, etc). That's ok ... and people seem to go apeshit for sunflowers!!

I just came here to post this. That was incredible. He looked like he should be involved in some really shady behavior not signing for the Governor of Mississippi.

She missed the 96 hour mark by 185 nautical miles, when the cone has a radius of 151 nautical miles at that interval. That translates to a z-score of 1.225, or about a 1/9 chance of missing that bad based on historical accuracy.

For New Orleans to catch the center of the storm (just for simplicity), you’d need a miss of 181 nautical miles in a 72 hour forecast, which is 1.757 standard deviations from the mean, or about a 1/25 chance forecasting miss.

I mean they only act on the advice they are given. The same people bitching about closing would be the same ones if they stayed open and we got hammered.

Thanks .. we try! I wish I knew how to post pics .. and before y'all try to help me, others have tried and I just suck at it.

Challenge accepted.

Assuming you’re on mobile, go to imgbb.com. Select “Start Uploading”. Select “From Library”. Choose your picture and select Done. It will upload with a box below it showing an internet url. Select the url that starting with . Copy it. Paste it directly into your reply and it should format properly.

No login needed, but the image will not stay up forever. Still long enough to share with folks here if you’d like.

They do similar to what you are, but are only "open" a couple days a week with a "you pick", honor system the rest of the time. They've done fairly well with it, with surprisingly few people not abiding by the honor system.

That's what we were planning for this week .. until Bitchy Laura came up.

Did they leave a box or a sign with a venmo account? We were going to put venmo address.

Lake Charles people...staying or evacuating?

Would be a lot easier to evac if I didn’t have this old blind dog... probably just head to the bluff to my parents house. No trees near their house, which is the deciding factor why I’m not staying home; big water oak in the backyard is making me nervous.

This shite sucks.
