It's really sad what the city I grew up in has become. If these storms do some real damage it's going to show her at her finest.

I've been pointing out that she has neglected clearing our drainages out for months now. Weeds are 10 feet high in them.

I predicted well over a month ago that if we get an August / September hurricane with significant rains, lots of folks were going to flood because of her dereliction of duty.
Well, this could easily be that event.

Unless you’re really close to the lakefront, you’ll be fine. Just be prepared for a few days without power because if Marco knocks it out, you’ll probably be waiting until after Laura to get it restored

12z ICON model a tad north and east of its prior run for Laura. Prelude to a further east track?

These damn models have been playing with my emotions. SWLA gonna get hit, then shifted to New Orleans, back to LC, maybe Texas, now basically a Rita type track...

My brand new roof not happy.

Yeah, definitely. It’s just bringing up Rita memories.

A lot can happen so I guess I just need to prep now that way it won’t hit us instead of not prepping and nailing me

unless you live in an area that has flooded due to storm surge in the past, you are good to stay. We’ve lived here for 30 years and have only evacuated for Katrina. Biggest risk in Mandeville is trees falling but that’s usually only widespread here for strong category 2 and above.

I can’t wait for them to show the mayor proudly showing off his city’s pump system pumping water out of the flooded areas back into the gulf, which is what floods the flooded areas to begin with.

Interesting to see 12Z ICON move back East. I don’t really pay attention to the ICON but it follows the last model to run which was the 6Z EURO. They landfall in almost exactly the same place and similar intensities, which is weaker than the models hitting TX/LA border. The 12Z GFS and HWRF are going to be nail biting. I don’t know why I do this to myself. Lol
