This is really not hard to believe.
Latoya is VERY unpopular with a large segment of greater NOLA, but she has enduring support with her base which is a large part of the eligible pool.
Getting this many signatures legit. is very hard under the best of circumstances.
Quality control, while very good in places, but was (ahem!) uneven.
A lot of ineligible people signed out of their enthusiastic dislike for the Destroya.
This was always a long shot, no matter how bad she might be.

That’s baloney…..during her re-election campaign if I saw 3 Latoya yard signs throughout the entire city I saw plenty.

It was always a longshot as I have said many times before. But I saw it as a long shot in terms of getting enough signatures from an electorate that is overwhelming liberal and unmotivated. I wasn't expecting the organizers to get more than enough but then 40k are purportedly "invalid." Noonie man is dumb but is he prolifically dumb enough to submit that many invalid signatures?
Like I said, let's see the breakdown and the details of these disregarded signatures.

So is this the New Orleans version of the St. George comedy show? Nice.
Sad and true.

Well, that's just absolutely not true. Seeing as dumb frick was elected twice here in a state-wide election. Just like a senatorial election would be.

Doesn't matter. There are a lot of people in New Orleans who would never sign a recall petition for her no matter how awful she is or how organized the recall effort.

Over half the signatures were sent in after the deadline. The grace period isn’t “an extra five days” to submit signatures. It’s a period to correct errors.
Hopefully we get clarification on exactly why they were thrown out, but if the organizers claimed on deadline day they had more than enough, why did they submit less than HALF of what they had?
The fact that only 24 of the 32k signatures submitted after the deadline were counted makes it painfully obvious that the second batch sent in failed to adhere to the rules that the organizers knew, or should have known going into this.

One of the experts described it this way. There are those that are fed up with the state of the city and the crime, etc. Those people want to see change happen. They will sign.
Then there are those who are fed up with the state of the city and the crime, etc. But are apathetic to the situation, and feel nothing will ever change so why try. They won't sign, despite wanting things to be different.

Not to mention there is currently one federal seat occupied by a democrat. And not unusual to have a second.
And a Senator used to be democrat.

Profanity / Derogatory comments... so they coudn't put "I want the DeStroya gone" on the form?
Title page mislabled... seriously?
Unable to verify petitioner intent? Da fuq? The intent was to sign the recall, what other intent could there be?
It's hilarious that they will go to any measure to count a ballot, and will go to any measure to not count a recall signature.

Can’t wait to see half the nopd in lakeview looking for speeders, out of date inspection stickers, and any other nickel and dime violation possible.

There is certainly plenty of apathy. I know many affluent conservative people who hate Teedy, but who still refused to sign. That makes no sense to me. You forfeit your right to complain.

If so, they might have screwed up big time. From what I understand reading the documentation from the registrar, the 5 day grace period only applies to new signatures and any signatures obtained prior to the original deadline would have had to go in the first batch to be considered.
If this failed due to having plenty enough signatures but not being turned in on time... that is peak NOLA.

So true, she could’ve shot the Tucks rider in broad daylight and wouldn’t have been recalled.

I thought that the reps getting the signatures were checking IDs against the voter rolls? I can understand a pretty big number of ineligibles but 40k, almost double the valid ones, is completely incomprehensible. There’s got to be some serious frickery going on.

Especially if they spent their time planning a brass band and celebrating rather than going back and getting the other signatures.
Waiting to see Bayou mama bears comment on this. Best part of social media lately is seeing those comments.

To me the biggest disappointment is the AA population's abysmal signature numbers. I can see people giving a pass to a bad person doing a good job, or a good person doing a bad job, but Teedy is objectively a terrible person doing a terrible job, and that should transcend race, gender, politics, and anything else. This does not inspire confidence for the future.

I guess you find it hilariously fitting for all Americans under Joe Biden's administration too then (even though there are a lot of people who didn't vote for Joe Biden).
