article with pdf letter from mayor

quote:

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is raising concerns about the City Council's "tone" and "demands" made in a letter to the Sewerage & Water Board shortly after the council took office on May 7.

Cantrell sent the May 24 letter to City Councilman Joe Giarrusso, who issued the original letter after obtaining signatures from all of his fellow council members. In Giarrusso's original 10-page letter, he criticized the embattled agency for "terrible customer service, lack of transparency and poor efforts to engage the public," which he said has led to "severe mistrust."

Giarrusso also demanded quarterly reports from the agency, which are required under law but rarely sent to the council.

quote:

In response, Cantrell sent back a two-page letter outlining progress made toward reforming the Sewerage & Water Board, including recent hires made to replace interim staff and goals set for reducing billing errors. She also took aim at Giarrusso's persistent approach, and implied it wouldn't get the council very far if those tactics continue. "While I admire the tenacity of the council and firmness of the public for answers, the demands and perceived tone of the letter have discouraged board involvement and engagement," Cantrell wrote. "As we hold them to high standards, we must remember that neither the board members nor the S&WB employees are our enemies. It is incumbent upon us to work with them to benefit the people of our city."

Joe better watch it.

LOL. frick her.

She might as well have said:

Look man, I don't have the time, Intellegence, motivation, or energy to try to fix the S&WB so quit fricking asking about it so I can get back to frauding the tax payers in peace.

Under the last mayor the S&WB was so defunct and pathetic the city was flooding from a rain storm and then when asked about it they were caught in a big arse lie that led to people being fired and a revelation about the maintenance issues with our pumps. And her response is :hey quit asking us about it. Well get there eventually but if you keep asking us about it frick it we won't do anything

Well Mitch said before he finished that the improvements needed to be made with our drainage system would take years to fix and cost as much as a new nfl stadium.

Well, drainage is a top priority for a city below sea level. Have people in Nola not accepted this reality yet?

There’s no fixing the SWB. It’s too far gone at this point and Toya will surely help drive it and the city of New Orleans further into the ground.

I think it’s a smart move by Cantrelle. The main objective is to get the SWB to improve in many areas. While their incompetence is legendary and harsh tones are justified, At this point they know they are under the gun and what they need is help not additional condemnation.

Now, behind the scenes, Cantrelle can approach the SWB with some clout for having given them a little backing and be in a position to make some changes that they might have been more resistant to otherwise if she had piled on just like the City Council.

Lol. What makes you think this? I know a few people who work on her team that are white. She was at an all white wedding I attended a few months back. She goes to Filipeps’s every Friday afternoon for a “smoothie” and that restaurant is owed by a white family.

A little pot calling the kettle black much?

What the frick?

Jimbeaux's take is thoughtful as usual, by the way.

This shite up here is funny, though.
