He's such a bitch.

How many quarters has she failed to send the report?

Why don't we just go ahead an impeach her now for tearing down the statues.

Now, behind the scenes, Cantrelle can approach the SWB with some clout for having given them a little backing and be in a position to make some changes that they might have been more resistant to otherwise if she had piled on just like the City Council

Yeah...I am sure that was her plan. Nothing to do with slapping down an uppity white councilman who clearly doesn't know his place.

Have you spoken with the service guys/managers at Cox and Entergy?

I'm impressed. That's not been my experience with Cox or Energy, not at all. I will grant you that the average Cox/Entergy technician is more helpful and intelligent than the average S&WB employee, but that's not saying much.

Also, Cox and Entergy have shareholders to worry about. And in Cox's situation, competition.

Did you read the letter? It was not an attack on Latoya. It was essentially a "this is how it's going to be" letter. Setting expectations.

And it wasn't even written to her. It was written to the "Sewerage and Water Board Executive Team" - i.e. the paid employees and leaders of the agency. It wasn't even written to the oversight board per se.

Scooba... you on her staff or something?

Her father in law is Harry Cantrell who absolutely abhorres caucasians and has publicly made his feelings known. She also has a history of not responding to neighborhood groups she considers white because she knows they won’t vote for her so they are sidelined for action due to racial characteristics. This practice by Cantrell is pretty well known.

The previous council requested these same reports after the August flood and still hasnt received them.

She has made it very clear in certain Uptown circles that she cant stand Uptown white people and it's her mission to take down a certain youth sports organization and replace it with NORD and to fight the the Audubon Institute on anything and everything

Did you read my original post?

And like I said, it seems like a piss poor way to start a relationship with a new mayor.

No, but I am going to give her some time in office before I judge her.

Probably so, here's the thing, LaToya smoked her competition in the primary and run-off......she has the under class catching her back and as such does not really give two fricks.

Sucks, for sure, but that is how politicos see things .

By the way, big Joe Giarrusso fan, knew his grandfather, the Chief.....great guy.

The letter largely focused on changes made in 2014 to the makeup of the S&WB's governing board. That measure removed council members from the board but required the utility to provide comprehensive reports to the council about its operations. But that requirement was ignored for years. The agency's first report did not come until after the flood of Aug. 5, 2017, when public trust in the utility had been shattered by failures of the S&WB's drainage system and the misleading statements made by its top officials. And once the S&WB was pressured into addressing the council, the resulting report fell so far short of what was expected as to be "indefensible and inexcusable," according to the letter.

Guess who sat on the council during those years when SWB got a free pass to not produce the mandated reports?

President of an agency's board =/= executive team of a board.

And tough poo if it's a "piss poor way to start a relationship". Life's hard. Get over it. Nothing in that letter was insensitive, mean, or overbearing. It was a "this is what we expect" letter. Anyone with half a brain knows that letter was not written to or for LaToya, but rather, for the lifelong bureaucrats who run that agency.

As others have said, LaToya herself has a reputation for being a bull in a china shop, and for getting after people. She should respect his tone, if anything.

Here's a scenario...

You call customer service of some company for an issue you're having. The service rep promises you the problem will be fixed soon. The problem persists. You call again and the same rep says he will get right on it. He doesn't. A month later you call again, furious about the problem only to find that there's a new customer service agent and her only knowledge of your issue is a small note in your file.

You can pick up where you left off, scream, bitch, moan and take it all out on someone that had little or nothing to do with your problem, or

...you can be an adult, explain the carelessness of her predecessor and politely request that she take this opportunity to rectify the situation and make you a happy customer again.

Your example fails miserably in the accountability realm of constituency government. If the council is owed reports, get them the reports. If that's not possible, ask why.

That scenario has absolutely nothing to do with his letter and the issue at play.

The council is asking for reports and plans. The agency is required BY LAW to provide these. They have not provided them in the past as required BY LAW. The new council has asked that the law be followed.

If a company I was using was required BY LAW to do something and they were not doing it, you can bet your arse by the third attempt I'd be yelling. And would I yell at the new CSR? Of course not... I'd be yelling at the supervisor though, the manager, and I'd be moving my way up the food chain.

Actually you know......I'm wrong...in fact Giarrusso is doing exactly what Cantrell didnt do as a council member and it's making her look bad....
