The modern state of the US media in a nutshell:
We’re 900+ pages into this thread, with most of us having the same General “anti-Russia” bias as the MSM, yet still none of us trust the MSM, and you don’t see any of us using the MSM as a source. We’re onto obscure blogs and Twitter accounts, and in one case, swiping right on Tinder to try to get an inside look.
This is true despite having some ideological alignment with them in this one particular case. I wouldn’t trust CNN to report on my birthday without questioning them every step of the way, even if everything they say seems accurate.

Russia is stationing ships near Snake Island for air defense of Southern Ukraine. At the same time Ukraine is using the island's radar shadow to mask incoming missiles.
It makes sense if you think about it in Russian.

You're absolutely right. I trust independent reporters using open-source techniques far more than MSM's who each have been guilty of scandalous wartime coverage... NBC (Brian Williams)...CBS (Dan Rather)....and Fox News (Geraldo)
Think about how the ordinary Russian doesn't have access to alternative sources and how that may shape this war for them.

My “anti Russian bias” is as the result of them invading a sovereign country and murdering, raping and stealing stuff from ordinary Ukrainian citizens-some of whom I know person to person. It has nothing to do with MSM coverage of which I watch relatively little as I have an attention span that far exceeds the average viewer of Cnn fox and whatever passes for media in America, in Canada we have access to American media but I prefer Canadian, British and France TV5coverage. Not to put too fine a point on things equating CNN with Russian state media is fricking retarded.

Ragip Soylu @ragipsoylu Ukraine plans to strike the Crimean bridge on May 9, Captain Janis Slaidinš, a representative of the Latvia National Armed Forces (NAF), said in an interview with Latvijas Radio.
I am going to go out on a limb and assume that claim is BS. However, could you imagine the reaction if the crazy Ukies pulled that off?

Of course it’s bullshite. Only Russia would be dumb enough to announce to the world and its opponent what its next move is going to be.

I’m not going back through the thread but has anyone else noted the huge amount of industrial accidents occurring in Russia?

This morning didn’t the Russians accuse the US of enabling the Ukranians to target their ship?

Good ole Uncle Vlad. First he fricks your family over by sending your sons or fathers to die in a bullshite war, then fricks you over again by telling you you'll never have closure..or the survivor compensation that was promised.
What a swell guy.

That’s a fancy way of saying “we can’t afford to pay you cause we had absolutely no idea that our piggy banks overseas were gonna be frozen as a result of creating a war on Europe’s front porch”
More and more I get the feeling that Russia’s economic situation at home is all smoke & mirrors. Only reason everything hasn’t come completely unglued is cause everyone is afraid of everyone secretly being FSB.

I was trying to keep up with Ukraine on the PoliBoard until I came here for the first time. There's a little back and forth here but posters here seem to live in the real world and aren't obsessed about a corrupt, money-laundering political operation that bis Ukraine (from the Poliboard). I come here firstling in the morning for information. Posters are not cautious in the same way even Fox News is. And Fox News seems to always have an article about how Russia is threatening to obliterate us is we don't walk the right line.
As a side note Bill O'Reilly was hawking his book on the radio today with Glen Beck. In his latest book he touches on the advanced weaponry we have and in some cases space-based weaponry that apparently other countries are worried about and that are generally unknown to the public. I guess I'll get his book to read this. He has sources who gave interesting generalized information.

Let’s stop pretending the Kremlin gives one frick about dead Russian servicemen.

I agree. However, if there is one thing that CNN excels at, it's war coverage. Clarissa Ward is the best war correspondent out there. I will watch her. But as soon as they start talking about politics on that network, I switch to Animal Planet.

i would assume weve gone HAM on trying to get some kind of missile defense systems up in the sky that can potentially hit things launched from the chinese or russian interior that our ground/ship based systems dont have the range for

I have a close family member who worked for a contractor in the 1980's. He spent the better part of the decade helping to build a proof of concept "Neutron beam gun"
Basically an open-ended particle accelerator. They got it working, gave a demo and the project was mothballed for a cheaper ABM tech.... or so he was told...
