To be fair that comment doesn’t seem to be popular on there. And the comment it was replying to said it was good for Ukraine. Which is why I was saying even on the poli board version of the topic, SDV isn’t so popular.
Though I don’t feel like that thread is reflective of the attitudes of the poli board at large. The comment you quoted would likely be agreed upon on the rest of the poli board. Just like certain popular comments reflected here may not be a common sentiment shared by many on this board either. It seems when a thread gets large enough, it attracts only a small group of people that keep it going.

Correct. Several of the more prominent pro-Russia posters in that thread play an out sized role in setting the tone for the whole board.

Russia’s original was somewhere along the lines of taking most of Ukraine and forcing them into a treaty. Pretty much making them a puppet state. Now they’ve backtracked to just taking some of the eastern areas.
So I think this is the best case realistic scenario for Ukraine. I don’t think they can push Russia completely out (including Crimea). But they’re likely going to prevent Russia from completely defeating them or even taking a massive portion. Which is far better then anyone expected.

I believe at least prior to this war Crimea was very pro-Russian. Who knows with some post war geopolitical shifting. Kazachstan made a plea to not be behind an iron curtain again if this thing goes really cold.
