My favorite was when he got all indignant about people predicting that he would self ban once his self imposed hard deadline passed. He went on and on about he would never do that and would eat his crow like a man.

The cards you see are totally standard things that every politican uses in press briefings, even at the Mayoral level.
The first time I saw them used was in the Clinton, I got to spend a day behind the scenes in the Press shop with the Press Secretary at the State Department.
They prepare a big binder for him, anything even slightly controversial is vetted again.
The Press Secretary goes through it a about a half hour before and cards are made for all the questions most likely to come up. About 15 minutes before they will do a "rehearsal" with 3-5 staffers lobbing questions.
And calling on people has been done forever.
For you to think any of this is a big deal shows only one thing, you have never worked as a Press Secretary for a politician or been a politician.
The cards are STANDARD stuff, the dall on list is STANDARD stuff REAGAN used it, BUSH used it so stop making a big deal out of the routine.
You just think it's crazy because you don't know it is not.

I don’t know, maybe make a coherent argument for why you think people are hypocrites? If you’re that passionate about it, you ought to be able to rattle off a few hundred words stating your thesis and how you reached your position.
