No doubt one goal was to control the black Sea. That's all but wrapped up.

Ukraine had 1 warship prior to the war. The Ukrainian navy was a nonfactor prior to the war and it’s a nonfactor. However the Russians don’t control the black sea as long as Turkish naval ships are there and NATO F22s are in Romania.

Russia could have blocked the port of Odessa with missiles from Crimea without ever invading Ukraine. All it’s doing now is destroying stuff while it’s forces get pushed back on three of the 5 fronts and are stalled on the other two.

Trying to claim the small portion of eastern Ukraine as a victory for Russia after failing to secure its objectives of demilitarizing and regime change in Ukraine is like the Falcons trying to say they are in a strong position after missing out on Deshaun Watson and trading Matt Ryan for a 3rd round pick. It’s just laughable.

ETA: This war has also made the west lose the fear that they had of Russia. Plus Russia has united NATO and made NATO start strengthening its eastern flank. The number of Patriot missile batteries in Eastern Europe had tripled in the last month and the number of US, British, French, and Polish forces available to respond to Russia has also increased. Russia’s military standing in the world is actually weaker today than it was one month ago.

You are obviously heavily invested in this. If Russia is allowed to continue to go balls to the wall on Ukraine it won't even be worth living in. It will be reduced to rubble. And no one in Ukraine alone can stop it

If you think that's a win for Russia, you need to read a little about Russian history.

In what war is having your major cities and major population centers completely destroyed "winning".

WW2.

See Britain and Russia.

ETA: FFS, the British burned Washington D.C. to the ground, and still ended up being considered the losers of the War of 1812. It ended in a stalemate.

Granted, the Battle of New Orleans helped with that perception, but the point still stands.

The Viet Cong never won a single battle in the Vietnam "Conflict", but still won the war.

The Taliban won the War in Afghanistan.

War isn't a sport where the scoreboard comes into play. The definition of "Winning" a war is always dependent on the specific war.

And the Ukrainians are "winning" this war. It's costing them a lot, but it will also gain them so much more in the future. They are getting help from those that refused to accept them in the past. They are showing the world that Russia isn't something to be scared of, as long as you are willing to stand up to them.

You know, like when you stand up to a bully, and he ends up backing down.

The facade of "Big, bad Russia" is gone.

Even if Russia manages to take Ukraine, they won't hold it. And they won't recover the intimidation factor they used to hold over the world.

And it took the US and Russia on the same team to save those. Russia is against Ukraine by itself haha.

Churchill defended Britain from the Nazis without either the help of the US (at least on mass)

He did get some great American Pilots who volunteered to fight for Britain, but they weren't in the military at the time.

Which is why I'm surprised that people are confused by citizens of other countries wanting to go fight the Russians in Ukraine.

It's not like this is a new concept.

Ukraine is not by itself.

Just like Britain was never truly by itself.

Ukraine is receiving aid and equipment from others, just like Britain was receiving those from the US during that time.

The difference is this: We aided Britain secretly, because it would never have been allowed by congress if they found out or the public found out.

Ukraine is receiving aid in the open. NATO is purposely revealing what they are giving the Ukrainians to fight this war.

Do you know why they would do that?

That’s why I put on mass. We armed them and any volunteers that wanted to go over there and defend Britain we allowed, but it wasn’t full scale war.

Nitpick here: En masse

And I got what you were saying, I was just clarifying for the "truth" guy.

Some people need to be explained things more clearly.

He may need us to make him a pop-up book.
