The poll, conducted between April 24 and May 4, 2025, surveyed 2,021 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and older in territories under Ukrainian government control. According to the survey, only 11% of respondents said they primarily speak Russian at home.
Of those, 82% said they had a negative view of Russia.
LOL, there's a big whopper. Most Ukros speak Russian at home and they all know Russian language.
And who's doing the poll and do you think people living in the cocentration camp will say that they support Russia?
It's a fake. But even still, after 3 years of Russia pounding Ukraine there are people there who realize Russia isn't the bad guy but their own government is. That percentage is surprisingly high even based on this phony data.

Lmao. Several regular posters in this thread are longtime members. Your presence, on the other hand, is quite curious, given when you signed up for the site.
Longtime don't mean shite, you could be longtime Ukrainian living in US. You're still a Ukrainian, just with a Ukrainian-American. Vindman is a Ukrainian and one was a Colonel in US army somehow and the other one is a now a Congressman in Virginia. And there's the 2nd Ukrainian Victoria Kulheyko (Spartz).
0.3% of this site can statistically be Ukrainian just based on US demographics. So if this site got 2000 members, that would mean there are 6 Ukrainains on here and I'd wager most of them be loud and obnoxious as you.
There are always Liz Cheneys, and Adam Kinzingers and vermin like such. But those ones specifically profited from supporting ukros. Hard to imagine anyone here profiting, unless you count measly few cent you invested in raetheon or boeing.

Putin’s helicopter never came under fire in Kursk – Ukrainian officials debunk Russian fake
Claims that the helicopter of Russian leader Vladimir Putin was allegedly attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kursk region are false.
This was stated by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security under the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.
The statement refers to a claim aired on the Russian TV channel Rossiya, in which air defense division commander Yuriy Dashkin said: “Putin’s helicopter came under attack by the AFU during his trip to Kursk.” According to the Center, this is a lie.
The press service explained that Putin did indeed visit Kursk region on May 20, marking his first trip to the area since the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the “complete liberation of the territory from the AFU.”
The Center noted that this is the first time Russians have mentioned a “breakthrough by Putin” through a drone swarm while aboard a helicopter.
“Kremlin-aligned media, covering Putin’s visit, claimed he traveled around the region exclusively by car. Footage of his motorcade was shown on all federal television channels. Moreover, around those dates, neither the Ministry of Defense, nor Kursk-based media and Telegram channels, reported any drone attacks of the scale described by Dashkin,” the statement reads.
As reported earlier by Ukrinform, Kremlin propaganda also spread false claims about Ukrainian chemical munitions in Kursk region and the alleged mining of civilian areas.

They beat Napoleon by fighting strategic battles and then retreating.
And in those battles they took heavy losses, and knew they were going to.
Replace 'attritional' with "heavy losses" and it's more accurate. They lost a ton of men and burned their own capital during that war.

What you're laying out could work. It also could backfire and cause a larger conflict now. Russia would certainly lose, but they do have nukes....
We are on the razor's edge right now and there isn't a meaningful way to de-escalate the conflict. Every attempt at 'managing' the conflict has failed. If the Russians view it as existential, then the only way to get them to realize it is not is to defeat them on the battlefield and then reintegrate the successor state into European economic networks. That has to be the solution now or later.
quote:
So if your rationale in supporting Ukraine unconditionally until the end is "preventing our kids from fighting in a war in 2040", I'm not sure that accomplishes it. I'm kind of the opposite side of the same coin I guess, I think your solution either starts a broader conflict sooner or just delays an existential one for a few decades, while if Russia kind of "wins" and gets a few oblasts it keeps them ultimately weaker long term because they won't fundamentally change their broken system
That is a good point, but if Russia wins, there is a much longer timetable for potential reintegration, if ever. It also keeps a very real geopolitical flashpoint alive with very clear objectives. In either scenario, I would suggest there is a strong likelihood of war, unless in the case of Russia losing and being greeted not as complete villains but potential future partners for peace. That is the key difference between WWI and now. We don't have to be necessarily vindictive in how we approach Russian reintegration or Ukrainian rebuilding. Within a decade of the end of WWII, the first Treaty of Paris was signed between two former Axis powers and countries they fought in a war, which set the stage for what became the EU. If we can repeat that lesson between Russia and Ukraine, we can most definitely prevent another war.
The key is that we have to have a vision of what that world could look like. What it does require is Russian defeat on the battlefield, either now or later. I'd rather it now, as the collective West has several other extremely important challenges to deal with.

The Russians in fact let the French take an empty Moscow.
The Tsar Alexander I ordered all Russians to evacuate the city and take as much of their food with them as they could since it was October and the brutal Russian winter was approaching.
Tsar Alexander I also ordered them to burn or throw into the Moscow River (which winds its way through the entire city) any food they couldn't carry with them when they evacuated. In addition he ordered the city be burned to the ground.
Because he couldn't feed his troops is the main reason Napoleon ordered them to retreat from the city after only 36 days..

ISW Update May 27 2025

Key Takeaways:
The Kremlin is setting conditions to establish permanent control over the Russian-occupied Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), suggesting that Russia plans to illegally occupy and annex additional territory in Ukraine.
Russian officials are likely leveraging the fact that Ukraine and Russia set no concrete deadlines for the next steps in the peace process in order to delay the process altogether and prolong the war.
Putin continues to use orchestrated public engagements to forward the Kremlin's effort to create a militarized Russian society united against the West that supports a prolonged war in Ukraine and possible future conflict with NATO.
The European Union (EU) Council approved the first phase of the European Commission’s ReArm Europe/Readiness 2030 plan.
Ukraine's Western allies continue to provide military aid to Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Chasiv Yar. Russian forces recently advanced near Vovchansk, Kupyansk, and Pokrovsk.

Central Siberia is closer to Japan than it is to Ukraine by almost a thousand miles.
