Zelensky said he wanted a thirty day cease fire in place before he’d meet with tgd Russians to negotiate. He relented. He decides to meet anyway.
Now how is this moving the goal post? It’s not. It’s called meeting in the middle.
Russia is putting on the full court press now to undermine these talks. They are pushing the notion that they are winning decisively. They think they have Europe and Ukraine over a barrel so why should they give up anything?
But I believe the pictured Russia is selling isn’t quite right, and there are issues that are affecting Russia that they are hiding.

You come to this thread several times a day and gripe about posters rebutting JB. What are you adding? Nothing.
And you need to look up the definition of Troskyite because it certainly doesn’t apply to me.

The whole Ukraine-maxer argument that Russia believes they have Ukraine over a barrel so they won't negotiate, but its only because Russia is in too deep to quit now is such a strange one

He can't even spell 'Trotskyist' much less define it.

Russia, as any good negotiator knows isn’t going to show their cards.
If the road to a total victory is open and Ukraine’s defeat is imminent then there is no reason for Russia to negotiate. That’s obvious.
But if the road is still tricky and internal pressures are mounting inside Russia they would hide this and negotiate hoping to get very favorable terms.
Let’s see what happens.
I don’t think anything of substance will. I hope I’m wrong, but I think Putin got caught here when Zelensky accepted the Putin plan to negotiate. It’s a propaganda failure, but it doesn’t impact the war unless Trump takes a major step to aid Ukraine as a result.

I don't think its imminent, I think its eventual.
With it being eventual and not imminent, Ukraine has a chance to get out of this maybe only losing their shirt instead of being down their whole outfit. But they have to get real, fast.

Medinsky’s statement in Istanbul made Russia’s position unmistakably clear: the goal of direct talks is to establish lasting peace by addressing the root causes of the conflict. In other words, no temporary ceasefires, no vague frameworks — and certainly no repeat of the Minsk trap, where deals are signed to be ignored.
Moscow’s approach underscores a broader pattern: it is again positioning itself as the only side acting like an adult in the room — showing up, laying out its demands, and signaling willingness to negotiate. Meanwhile, Kiev’s attempts to wriggle out of negotiations make for poor optics internationally. And as we’ve already seen, Moscow’s diplomatic efforts don’t mean a pause in military pressure — rather, they run in parallel.

I think Ukraine winning can only be defined now as the war stopping, Russia holding captured territories, Ukraine leaving Kursk and a treaty signed. More than that looks to be unrealistic right now unless there are major changes.

Could be why this random small site and many others are getting firehosed. Makes sense.

Ukraine leaving Kursk
Last reporting, Ukrainians were completely pushed out of Kursk. There is no "Russian territory" for them to negotiate with, not that Putin would ever even allow it.

All Zelensky fans need a taste of real Ukrainian "democracy" and "western values" that actual Ukrainians in Ukraine experience. If these footages were coming out of Russia, CNN would be running this on a loop screaming how Putin and his KGB is abusing his people and yada yada.
