Trump urges Putin to 'stop shooting, sit down and sign a deal' to end Ukraine war

by Olena Goncharova April 28, 2025 4:59 AM

U.S. President Donald Trump voiced frustration with Russia and urged President Vladimir Putin to stop attacks and finalize a U.S.-brokered peace deal to end the war in Ukraine.

"Well, I want him to stop shooting, sit down and sign a deal," Trump told reporters on April 27 when asked about his expectations for Putin. "We have the confines of a deal, I believe, and I want him to sign it and be done with it," he added, signaling growing impatience as negotiations stall.

Trump’s comments came after Russia launched its deadliest attack on Kyiv in nine months, with missile and drone strikes killing 12 people and injuring 90, including six children. "I was very disappointed that missiles were flying, [fired] by Russia," Trump said.

"I see [Zelensky] as calmer. I think he understands the picture, and I think he wants to make a deal," Trump said.

Trump Reveals Details of Vatican Talk With Zelenskyy, Says Ukraine Ready for Peace Deal
Apr 28, 2025 11:57

US President Donald Trump has commented for the first time on his recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, describing their brief discussion ahead of Pope Francis' funeral as “beautiful,” according to CNN and Sky News reports on April 27.

During the 15-minute conversation, Trump said they touched on the issue of Crimea, which, under Trump’s proposed peace plan, the US would recognize as Russian territory.

“We’ll see what happens in the next few days,” Trump added. “Don’t talk to me about Crimea, talk to Obama and Biden about Crimea.”

Trump also said Zelenskyy requested additional weapons during the meeting. Dismissing any past tensions with the Ukrainian leader, Trump referred to their earlier, widely publicized Oval Office dispute as merely “a little argument.”

And the real story:

quote:

On September 17, 1939, Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov declares that the Polish government has ceased to exist, as the U.S.S.R. exercises the “fine print” of the Hitler-Stalin Non-aggression pact—the invasion and occupation of eastern Poland.
Hitler’s troops were already wreaking havoc in Poland, having invaded on the first of the month. The Polish army began retreating and regrouping east, near Lvov, in eastern Galicia, attempting to escape relentless German land and air offensives. But Polish troops had jumped from the frying pan into the fire—as Soviet troops began occupying eastern Poland. The Ribbentrop-Molotov Non-aggression Pact, signed in August, had eliminated any hope Poland had of a Russian ally in a war against Germany. Little did Poles know that a secret clause of that pact, the details of which would not become public until 1990, gave the U.S.S.R. the right to mark off for itself a chunk of Poland’s eastern region. The “reason” given was that Russia had to come to the aid of its “blood brothers,” the Ukrainians and Byelorussians, who were trapped in territory that had been illegally annexed by Poland. Now Poland was squeezed from West and East—trapped between two behemoths. Its forces overwhelmed by the mechanized modern German army, Poland had nothing left with which to fight the Soviets.

Does this sound familiar?

He rage quit this thread because the conversation became less one sided. He couldn't stand it not being a Ukraine circle jerk with only a couple of dissenting opinions.

I thought some of his takes were fine or even good, even if some of them were stuck about 40-50 years in the past. Overall I would say he was a positive contributor who at least generated some interesting discussion, which is becoming less and less common in the thread.

He’d come herewith good info, good takes, and a firehoser drowned him out.

If he were firehosing with Ukraine info, even if you knew it was mostly false, you'd be fine with it.

I think its hilarious how up in arms you people get about JB when you said nothing about Cypher until some posters started calling you out about how obvious of a bot Cypher is and that all of the JB rage was hypocritical given that obvious point.

I would love for Chicken to ban people who spam threads with links with little to no actual commentary. I think it would be an obvious net good. But also its not like it makes it unreadable if you just choose to ignore it.

Let's not forget the $200 to $500 donkeys! That changes the equation where a $500 drone can kill a armored vehicles costing millions.

That is strange. Rob Lee and ISW should get their propaganda more aligned

Incorrect. Do you not see a motorcycle in Rob Lee's Tweet? Everyone in this thread already knows you are a bat shite crazy liar after your multiple fictional fairy tales you have told. Now we learn you are actually a retard that doesn't know what a motorcycle looks like.

Well, here's some good news. Just in time to warm up for the May Day Parade in Moscow.

After two months in which Ukraine stopped all strikes on Russian oil infrastructure (which is the ONLY thing Putin cares about), it's over. Suspected to be Neptune missiles have just struck Novorossiysk's oil gear.

Something is burning near an oil depot in Novorossiysk, Russia. Before that Russian channels reported a missile threat
