I’m not crazy about what Trump is saying, but I think the only possible conclusions to this war are either (1) concessions by Ukraine or (2) global war with nukes.
If the EU wants to keep sinking money into this stalemate, let them. But to see Trump’s critics and EU bureaucrats seemingly advocating for escalation with a nuclear country like Russia just boggles my mind.
My hope is that Zelenskyy eventually cracks from Trump’s shite talk and comes to the table. I’d hoped Ukraine could pull it off for the past couple of years, but it’s time for everyone to just take their lumps and let the killing - and potential for more global conflict - come to an end.

I doubt someone who’s survived assassination attempts and has been at war for 3 years gives a frick about mean tweets.
Honestly, I expect a CIA-type intervention soon to cause regime change in Ukraine, which is hilariously ironic.

One of the Russian talking points for three years has been: "Russia's opening moves in northern Ukraine were a distraction, nothing more than a feint. Putins real goal has been to capture eastern Ukraine for all of the mineral deposits."
Your post directly contradicts this talking point.

Scholz calls Trump's remarks about Zelenskyy wrong and dangerous, Spiegel says
Oleh Pavliuk, Yevhen Kizilov — Wednesday, 19 February 2025, 20:40
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has sharply rejected a remark by US President Donald Trump calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "dictator".
Source: Scholz in a comment to Spiegel, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Scholz stressed that "it is simply wrong and dangerous to deny President Zelenskyy's democratic legitimacy".
"The truth is: Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the elected head of state of Ukraine. The fact that proper elections cannot be held in the middle of a war is in line with the provisions of the Ukrainian constitution and electoral laws. Nobody should claim otherwise," he added.
The German chancellor noted that it was Russia, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, that started the war in Ukraine: "Ukraine has been defending itself against a ruthless Russian war of aggression for almost three years. Day after day".

A peace deal becomes the end to a senseless war, instead of another Afghanistan
1000% this.
Trump is getting out of a bad situation NOW before it goes further South. If a collapse happens Trump doesn't want to be associated with it like Biden was in Afghanistan. Trump is saying this is not my war and I did not start it. He is giving Zelensky and Europe an out now if a peace deal happens. Time will tell if they are smart enough to take it.

If tweet fails to load, click here. I wonder if doubleb wants to argue with me now. I hate to say it but I told you so earlier.
If you ever listened to what the Russians say they have mentioned a new security structure in Europe. This is part of that. Pulling back US troops. Trump's wants them out anyway. So do I. He doesn't need the Russians to get him to agree to that. That is something he has wanted to do for awhile.
How about we protect our borders for awhile instead of protecting welching countries that don't appreciate it. Maybe if they are forced to, they will finally grow up and abandon their globalist/woke policies and start defending themselves. Reality is hitting them right in their face and they don't like it. I love it.

Ok, here's my two cents on Trump's recent pro-Russian comments. Call it copium if you wish, but it's what makes sense to me right now.
The Donald is not a deep thinker nor does he think in terms of a long game. When presented with a microphone he says just what's on his mind at that moment. No considered, thoughtful answer and certainly no refusal to discuss anything. Show Trump a microphone and he's going to unload on you. Short and shocking, designed to make headlines. The TV journalist's dream.
And what's always on Trump's mind is what's making him angry at that particular moment. That anger prevents him from discussing anything without insulting and attacking someone. He doesn't care how ridiculous or easily refutable his comments are because he doesn't care about his own credibility. We in the US are now used to this ("they're eating the pets in Springfield..."), but the Europeans are horrified that any world leader can be so callous about the truth. They'll learn...
So what's Donald angry about this week? The fact that the rare earth minerals grab was refused by Zelensky. This was very embarrassing to Trump as he had presented this deal to his wealthy backers as a sure thing. And Zelensky just blew it off.
Zelensky told Donald Trump "No".
So now the intimidation and bullying comes out from Trump to try to get Zelensky and the Ukrainian government to surrender and sign the papers. They think repeating Putin's propagada lies will be the horse's head left in Zelensky's bed. But trying to intimidate a guy like Zelensky after everything he's been through the last three years is foolish. He's seen far worse than a bunch of rich MAGA supporters talking tough. Especially with Trump as their bag man. The people Zelensky has been dealing with the last three years don't offer written contracts or ask for any signature. Zelensky should get an Academy Award for just keeping a straight face.
So I'm not worried about anything Trump is saying now or at any time. With Trump, talk is always cheap and he never backs up anything he says. This recent bromance with the war criminal and mass murderer is just school yard bullying and is doomed to fail with the Ukrainians. Trump will then move on to the next Plan of the Day and reshuffle the paragraphs of the minerals contract to see if anyone in Kyiv is scared. I'll save him the time - they aren't and won't be at any point in our lifetimes. It's called courage. Something Trump has been allergic to his entire life.
So the balance between the mineral rights deal and the Russian sanctions will tell the tale. But the Ukrainians have the winning hand here. They control the establishment of the mineral rights contract and will sign it. But only under their terms. It is too lucrative for the Trump crowd to walk away from. Or sit while the Chinese take it.
And meanwhile while everyone is busy talking... Oh look, another Russian refinery just blew up. Tik tok mutherfrickers.
Whatever you say Antony Blinken.

Vice President J.D. Vance on Wednesday warned the Ukrainian president against attacking President Donald Trump, saying that 'badmouthing' him in public would only backfire.
Vance spoke to DailyMail.com hours after Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky accused Trump of living in a Russian-made 'disinformation space.'
The extraordinary language on both sides comes at a critical time in the war between Ukraine and Russia, as Trump pushes for a speedy resolution.
'The idea that Zelensky is going to change the president's mind by badmouthing him in public media, everyone who knows the President will tell you that is an atrocious way to deal with this administration,' said Vance during an exclusive interview in his West Wing office.
At the same time, Trump weighed in with his own attack on Truth Social.
'A Dictator without Elections, Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left,' he wrote.
It marks an extraordinary breakdown in relations between Washington and Kyiv.
Vance said Zelensky had been getting 'bad advice' on how to deal with the new administration and for the past three years had been told he could do nothing wrong.

Trump said he would end this war day 1. He wants to keep that campaign promise and end the war. Under no circumstance will Trump escalate US involvement from where it is.
So to keep his campaign promise he can either force a functional surrender by Ukraine or convince Russia to stop prosecuting the war. Without escalating our involvement, Russia won’t stop.
So . . . Ukrainian surrender it is.
Trump is not irrational. He is just agnostic to anything other than keeping his campaign promise to end this war and is pursuing the path of least resistance to doing so.

Everyone thought Trump’s idea to use military force to take over the Panama Canal was incredibly stupid at the time he brought it up. However it got Panama’s attention and Rubio was able to go down to Panama and convince Panama to cancel its deal with China. Turns out it wasn’t so stupid after all. Now thanks to Trump’s incendiary statements about Ukraine and Russia he has gotten Denmark to be the second EU country to spend 3% on defense. Good ole BJ sees what’s up and he is right Europe needs to shut up and step up.
Trump is also using this to punish Zelensky for not doing more to help stop his first impeachment. Which is fine by me. Even though I strongly support Ukraine. Zelensky needs to go. Zelensky did a great job of managing the war in 2022. According to my sauce(s) in Ukraine he listened to his generals and western military “advisors” and basically let the military run the war then and Ukraine beat back the Russian invasion and Ukraine liberated 54% of the territory Russia had captured. However since the spring of 2023 that has changed. Western politicians especially the Biden administration wanted to see Ukrainian tanks rolling into Crimea and destroying Putin’s bridge. Meanwhile the military was suggesting that Ukraine invade the Kursk and Bryansk oblasts to get behind Russia’s fortifications in the Donbas. Zelensky chose to listen to the Biden administration and focus on Crimea which was a golden opportunity lost because the summer of 2023 was Ukraine’s best chance of winning the war and Zelensky squandered it. I hope Trump keeps up the pressure on Zelensky and forces him to hold elections. I don’t know how he will do that because Ukrainian law is pretty clear on the matter but I hope he is able to pull it off.

Also posted this which is how elections could be held.
Trump tells Rubio that he wants elections in Ukraine. Rubio talks to Lavrov and Zelensky. Rubio proposes a 7 day ceasefire for the elections to be held in safety with a second ceasefire if a runoff is needed. If Rubio convinces Lavrov and Putin that they will be able to sell it to the Russian people as a blow to Ukraine and a win for them then I could see Russia agreeing to that. Rubio explains to Zelensky that if Russia agrees to a ceasefire and Ukraine doesn’t hold elections then all aid stops forever. Rubio sweetens the deal for Ukraine by guaranteeing them a seat at the table for any future negotiations and that whomever wins the election would have a lot stronger bargaining position than Zelensky currently has. Rubio appeases the Europeans by allowing them to monitor the elections. Hopefully the temporary ceasefire for elections is able to be extended until a peace deal can be agreed to. Meanwhile Europe actually follows through and delivers on their promises.
