BREAKING: Senator Lindsey Graham demands heightened US intervention in Syria
I honestly have no idea who the players are in this mess but FFS has this guy ever seen a war he didn't want to get involved in?

The Hamas attack on Israel last year set into motion a chain of events that ultimately resulted in the fall of Syria.
I've said that a couple of times, here... that attack was a MAJOR screw up.
Hamas, like Hezbollah, was just supposed to be a continuous low-key irritant that kept Israel preoccupied and ramped up things when needed to get Israel off of Iran's back. But they didn't seem to understand that, and they upped the ante way too much, and Israel went all in on eradicating them, then went for Hezbollah... and then Iran is next. It also accelerated the Sunni states just accepting Israel and normalcy, which it was trying to derail... it certainly has not inspired people in the streets to topple the governments of Egypt, Jordan or Saudi Arabia... they seem to have tired of protesting about Gaza pretty quickly.

The impact of Zelensky staying in place and Kiev holding against the initial thrust really is incredible.
How different the world would be today if Russia rolled into Kiev in days as expected and simply toppled Ukraine.
It may yet prove for naught, but what a historical turning point.
He will be a legend. When the Politards belittle him, I laugh. The threat was that he could flee or be dead in a day... he said "okay, I'm a dead man, but I am not deserting my country." That's "testicular fortitude" that most leaders like to pretend they have, but would've hauled arse in that situation... Assad did not stay behind to lead the fight, did he?

Why in the world would you use a selectively edited version of what he said?
Oh, I don't know -- maybe it's because he didn't actually demand heightened intervention into Syria?
Read what he actually says, which is that we need to continue to support the Kurds as they guard the Al-Hol prison camp with its tens of thousands of ISIS prisoners.
That's not "heightened." It's what we have done since the beginning of Trump's first term.
You are dishonest. ETA: or dumb -- one or the other.

Why wouldnt ukraine want all the donbas to be part of Russia? ukraine was bombing and killing the people before Russia finally moved in to defend them.
Lavrov is right, when the west speaks of ukraine its in terms of territory and mineral rights, when Russia speaks of ukraine....it is about the people.
Russia keeps Donbas, unfreeze their assets, give them back the interest on the assets you stole.
Russia removes troops but if ukraine starts killing in the donbas again we can start this all over again. And ukraine is not allowed in nato ever.
ukraine started this shat. They are not going to walk away with 400 billion dollars to rebuild the mess they created. And if they wish to continue to fight so be it, cargo pants will be taken care of by his own people before this time next year.

By the way, the reason that we're doing all these airstrikes on ISIS right now is that, until this week, the US and Russia has carefully negotiated agreements about Syrian airspace, to make sure that our forces didn't come into conflict in the skies over Syria.
These ISIS camps were, obviously, in the Russian controlled area. Russia was letting ISIS grow again right under its nose. I personally believe this was intentional, but there's no proof of that at this point.

When the dust settles, and Ukraine immerges in whatever form, the "rebuild" dollar amount is going to be a LOT more than that.
The US will provide the majority of it.

Rest assured when this does happen, no American companies or politicians will in any way benefit from this and everything will be above board.

But what if the companies support Trump?? Is it okay then if they benefit??

I have a good idea. I’ve heard of this gas company called Burisma in Ukraine. We get Trump jr and a bunch of CIA luminaries on their board to help rebuild Ukraine and keep Gazprom from profiting off sending cheap natural gas to Europe.

Keith Gates has already proposed a tax on all Russia oil exports to pay for it. That's Trump's special envoy to Ukraine and Russia.
Edit - Keith Kellogg, not Gates

Ukraine’s sea drones engage Russian helicopters, hit barge - raw footage
Naval drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service in the Black Sea delivered a surprise attack on Russian helicopters deployed in the area to hunt them down.
Details of a new unique raid by the Security Service have been reported by the agency’s press service, as seen by Ukrinform.
“On the night of December 6, a group of SBU’s Sea Baby naval drones got into battle with Russian helicopters, warplanes and Raptor patrol boats, which were trying to intercept them,” the report reads.
“Russian pilots considered themselves hunters and expected an easy hunt before becoming prey as naval drones returned fire,” the SBU wrote.
The Sea Baby drones involved in the raid were fitted with large-caliber machine guns with ballistic programs for automatic guidance and automatic target locking.
Intercepted Russian radio communications suggest there were killed and wounded among helicopter crew. The helicopters that scrambled to intercept the drones have suffered significant damage, now requiring major repairs.
Also, SBU drones hit a barge carrying military equipment and materials for repairing the Crimea Bridge, which the invaders are still trying to restore after previous Ukrainian attacks.
