Projection of power globally has kept the US the leading power in the world for decades.
It’s run down the country and impoverished us. We were better off when we were the world industrial powerhouse in the 1940s, and before we built the security state and entered this period of constant warfare.

One of Russia's largest microelectronics manufacturers halts operations temporarily
Oleksii Artemchuk — Monday, 21 October 2024, 18:50
The Kremniy EL plant in Bryansk, Russia, which produces components for the Pantsir air defence system and Iskander missile systems, has announced a temporary halt in operations following a drone attack.
Source: the plant's press service
Details: As result of the attack, the plant's production and administrative buildings were allegedly damaged, which led to power outages, damage to energy infrastructure and a break in technological production chains.
Oleg Dantsev, the CEO of Kremniy EL Group, stated that "the primary task now is to restore electronics production as quickly as possible".
An evaluation is currently underway to assess the possibility of restoring the damaged facilities.
Quote: "However, not everything depends on us – there are challenges in obtaining spare parts needed to restore technological equipment and the energy infrastructure," Dantsev noted.

Pay no attention to Leon. He is a communist. A Left Wing Extremist.
When Trump wins he is going to move to Lithuania and man the front against the Russian tanks.

Projection of power was part of what made us the leading power for decades.
Economic prowess, and roping other countries into our economic orbit, was the real driver.
We have been losing that for decades, but still have our "projection of power". Hence why the US is slipping. If not for demographic issues China would be poised to pass us and still has a chance to. But we have our own demographic issues.... we are letting in mostly poor and frankly mostly dumb people by the millions.

That's exactly what Projection of Power got us.
The came tying China directly to the US Dollar for its currency via a 3 way treaty with the UK and China, as well as paying manufacturing to shutdown and call it tax reform. Those two major screw ups came in the 1990's under Clinton.

You can add that the US was the only manufacturing power with economy intact after WWII. Even though England didn't lose manufacturing it was an economic wreck of a nation.

Nope. Never was a thing. China’s problem is the same as that of the Eastern Block led by the USSR; they have a fake economic system. The whole thing is a pack of lies about China’s prosperity.

A friend who worked there re-erecting nitric acid plant expounded on that extensively and that there are two currencies. One for internal use only

You know what's better than spending trillions of dollars wrangling other countries into you orbit by investing in their infrastructure in order to secure your flow of commodities?
Actually producing what you need domestically, like we do.
China has been pouring it's current account surplus into very dubious infrastructure investments all over the developing world. Like Africa for instance.
There's a good case to make that that money is essentially burned. China can't project power well enough to protect its investments.
So if Kenya or Botswana one day says: Thanks for the railroad, and the modern port, and the power plant, and the tractors....now GTF out of here. What is China gonna do about it? Complain to the International Court of Kiss My arse?
Our model has its own problems. But it's far and away better than theirs.

Sweet Jesus dude
That hasn’t been true in 30 to 40 years plus.

We produce all of the basic commodities that we need. We are food and energy independent. We export both of those things. Most of what we import are consumer products. Our biggest weakness is high end processors, and we're working on that.
China can't feed or fuel itself. Everything else pales in comparison to these two things.

On the food front, their population is 4 times ours and their land area is only about 2.5% larger. We actually have more arable land by a fair margin as well, so we are less dense on the land we do have AND we have more farmland. They have been making investments to improve here, but it will likely always be an issue with a population that large that has moved away from subsistence farming.
As far as energy goes, they are at the forefront when it comes to investing in nuclear power. This will give them a considerable advantage when it comes to cost of generating power, and I expect they will be a country that quickly transitions away from ICEs to take advantage of all the cheap nuclear energy they will soon be producing.
Give me our system and resources all day, but they are heading in a consistent direction because they aren't wildly changing foreign and domestic policy every 4 years, and they are better able to do things like their nuclear energy effort because they don't have two parties, hundreds of congressman, and a million miles of red tape to wade through. I think its foolish to discount them going into the future, especially given the chip wars.

Basic food, yes we are.
Net energy yes, but all grades and types, not even close with domestic supply. Crude oil, we are very limited though net capacity is more than needed for making gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, while bankrupting existing refineries. they can blend in maybe 10% with other sources. There are profit centers just as important which tight shale crude is basically crap. We do have NGL's in spades like nowhere else on the planet. So basic petrochemicals no one else can realistically compete.
High end processors? If you are talking computer type, it depends which of thousands of niches you are referring too. Singing cards, and talking bass, who cares.
