And long overdue. The decline in our military that began during the Obama administration is continuing. We are nowhere near strong enough to deter Chinese aggression.

Definitely no major damage to a natural gas storage site.
FTR, it's underground storage either in salt caverns or depleted oil/gas wells.
Also, Ukraine one of the largest storage capacities in Europe.

There is no jump in the TTF trading price. So no real damage regardless of how you want there to be. It would be like an atom bomb going off if damaged.

That is an explosion but it does not look to have originated 50 meters underground or be seen all the way from Poland.

I am aware. The pro-Russian poster on X who made the claim said that 8 missiles made it through Ukrainian air defense and 50 meters of earth to explode inside the storage area. The explosion was so big that a mushroom cloud could be seen 100 kms away in Poland. Pro-Russian posters on X were jumping for joy, but not one of them can produce an image of said explosion.

Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, and Italy are scrambling to get SAMs to Ukraine after the EU delayed its budgeting process. Months of Ukraine saying it was running low on SAMa was not enough to get them to pay attention but one delay is spending tax dollars has them moving like faster than Cajuns eating fresh crawfish.

It's been about 7 hours since the claim, and there's nothing out there about it.
Russia may have hit something, but there's 0% chance Russia blew up half of Ukraine's gas reserves without anyone saying anything for 7+ hours.

I'm pretty sure these claims are from these strikes almost 48 hours ago. I'll see if I can find some aerial images from the past 24 hours.
CitizenK, how significant is destroying this above ground infrastructure?

The European gas market would have jumped up a good bit if any actual damage was done. Ukraine is a major storage spot for European natural gas, especially for Poland.
With that knowledge, some pipe and valves MAYBE. it's off the shelf stuff anyway not like the one of a kind centrifugal gas compressors that Russia allowed to be damaged and shut Nordstream down.

Per X, it’s the 2nd or 3rd largest gas storage in Europe. The fact that prices didn’t jump up means damage is not that bad.

No one has storage in Europe or Russia like Ukraine has.

Two refineries "permanently" shutdown, in the US, might be coming back online soon. One of them because renewable fuels loses money despite the subsidies. There is not enough available feedstock in the form of vegetable oil, or brown grease from restaurant fryers.
This is bucking the recent trend to turn vacuum gasoil hydrotreaters and hydrocrackers into deoxidation and isomerization units to turn these oils into renewable fuels.
IMO, companies are also seeing the need to replace European imports from Russia. This has been brewing before this year.

Just curious: why is this down at the bottom if it’s “pinned”??
