What’s asinine is linking the border problems to Ukraine. The Republicans should propose a border rehabilitation bill designed to stop the invasion of criminals, dugs and put it front and center.
Coupling it with Ukraine is a mistake.

A key point to keep in mind with the supplemental:
It's an investment of an additional $33 billion in the US defense industrial base. Russia, obviously, has massively increased its military industrial base since the start of the war. Deterring China in Taiwan depends on our ability to make the necessary weapons. Many US manufacturers are now facing long backlogs, and additional investment helps pay for new production lines.

But the problem is that Trump told GOP congressmen that he wants the border to stay a campaign issue. Trump wants the border to stay a mess so that he can continue to attack Biden about it.
So nothing is going to get done on the border until the election.

There is a practical argument to wait.... Half-bake a "solution" now, or do what is actually necessary to fix the problem in a year. If you believe Trump actually will do what is necessary, and that he is capable of doing so at all.
But it seems like a no-brainer to me for the GOP to prop up some common sense fixes now even if they have to give Ukraine some money to get it done.

The Russians allegedly issued a surrender ultimatum to the Ukrainian forces there. The MSR has been cut for a couple of days, and I think it was two day ago where nothing made it in or out.

It is a campaign issue until the Dems agree to shut it down. What Langford proposed did not do that.
The Republicans need to get out front with a border rehabilitation bill to stop unchecked immigration, and to put in place a method to facilitate immigrants with skills necessary to our economy.
People all over can see the results of the current open border system. We need to protect our homeland first.

Price point goes down as production rate increases.
The amount of contractors taking advantage is not even close to WWII. There was a company in NOLA which received a contract to make steel bed frames for the Army and intentionally made them shorter than specified. After rejection then sold them to the public at a higher price. It was the only way to get the materials needed.
An artillery shell manufacturer in St. Louis reportedly never had a single round approved yet made shells throughout the war and continued to get contracts through the Vietnam war. At least that was the word at the steel foundry next door when I was there in the late 1980's. The steel foundry made parts for rail cars from the late 1800's up through the early 1980's. During WWII and Korea it cast tank turrets. I sure wish I had kept the records of labor shipped by box car from the Mississippi Delta during WWI to replace labor that went off to Europe. We found them in a basement.

As for why the ZSU is not withdrawing from Avidiivka: well, contacts deployed there say it’s better to continue fighting inside the town, where there is plentiful of cover, than to withdraw west of it - into the open, where there is no cover. For reasons nicely explained by Don, two days ago, even field fortifications there wouldn’t offer as good protection as the ruins of Avidiivka and the Coke Plant.

This thing is still going on? How much taxpayer money has our government sent them since it started?

Given the last 3 years, of Biden's illegal migration welcome mat, there isn't any deal or legislation that would make a difference. Lots of laws on the books that are simply being intentionally ignored.

This appears to be related to the latest Russian Soyuz launch. Several people have said that it is "space-related."

There was no battle, our people negotiated in public and tied the two together. The Dems just took advantage of our strategic mistake.

That’s why I called for a border rehabilitation act. A plan designed to use the laws in the book combined with dollars to fix the hokes in the border and the personnel to block the holes.
Illegal immigrants are destroying our society, overwhelming our institutions and it’s apparent that our charitable nature as a nation is being grossly abused.

Didn't the House pass HR-2 and the Senate declined to pick it up?

I’ve been supportive of Ukraine from the start, but given the current battle on funding and a recent public media acknowledgment of the spying effort on Trump in the Russia collusion scandal, this feels a bit on the nose vs real threat.
