Next year, Russian authorities plan to increase military spending by almost 70%, Bloomberg writes.

Spending on war will increase from the current 3.9% of GDP to 6% of GDP and will exceed social spending.

Classified expenditures will increase even more: from 6.5 trillion to 11.1 trillion rubles and will make up about a third of all budget expenditures.

The increase in classified spending suggests that the Russian authorities want to hide the real amount of money that is spent on waging war in Ukraine.

#Latvia plans to start confiscating cars with Russian and Belarusian license plates

Latvian Justice Minister Inese Libina-Egnere said that the authorities are drafting a bill that would allow to confiscate cars with Russian and Belarusian license plates. The cars will be seized if they do not re-register in the Latvian jurisdiction or leave the country within 3 months.

It is not yet specified when the project is planned to be submitted to Parliament.

Earlier Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Finland banned the entry of cars with Russian license plates into their territories. Norway is preparing similar measures. Nothing was previously reported about cars with license plates of Belarus.

Especially if, as almost everyone thinks, this persuades Scholz to give Taurus to Ukraine.

For those who don't know, Taurus is a cruise missile like Storm Shadow, but with a bigger warhead and a longer range.

One Taurus hit on the Kerch Bridge could take out the bridge for the rest of the war.

Russia had better move its Ka-52s out of Berdyansk quickly, or they are in trouble.

The officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly, did not say when the missiles would be delivered or when a public announcement would be made.

Sure as hell hope this isn't a tease to deflect criticism.

FINALLY! I’m also glad they decided to send the cluster ATACMS since we have a lot of those sitting around but I wonder which version will be sent. The original ATACMS cluster is the M39 amd I believe this might be the version that gets sent first. It has a range of about 100 miles. If they send the M39A1 then you get the full 180 mile range. As far as numbers I believe we are talking about 75ish missiles so the Pentagon can see how they use them before committing to send more. They should get to Ukraine fairly quickly as there are a certain amount of ATACMS stored at Ramstein which would be the obvious choice to send them. Even if it’s just the 100 mile variant they can do a ton of damage with that munition but temper expectations on hundreds being sent, that’s not happening at first simply because of the logistics. They all come in standard HIMARS pods that have 6 missile covers on the outside but there’s just one ATACMS actually inside so the enemy can’t tell which pod contains what missile.

Turns out that Budanov accompanied Zelensky to DC to meet with Pentagon officials.

He did a long interview from his DC hotel room: LINK

A number of sources are reporting that Black Sea Fleet commander Admiral Viktor Sokolov was killed in today’s strike in Sevastopol.

No confirmation yet, but this would obviously be huge if true.

This is what I keep wondering. I don’t want to know exactly what. And I sure don’t want to know exactly when. Because I don’t want the enemy to know any of these things.

Holy shite.

Not as much explosion as I would have thought, it seemed mostly kinetic.

That building got lit up. The Russian MoD has a real flair for understatement.

I believe the Storm Shadow has a 2 stage warhead. The first penetrates and the second charge is detonated inside the target so it may not be as visible.

Vladimir Rudolfovich Solovyov is going to be positively apoplectic on his next show. He will be calling for everyone responsible for the air defense in the area to be executed. I wonder how long until the stress catches up to him.

That could cause a really bad day at any airfield.
