If France and Germany would get their act together and pull their weight it might be possible for the USA to consider leaving NATO without jeopardizing the security of Europe. However, the USA is never leaving NATO because France and Germany are never going to commit to pulling their weight for the long term
I bet they’d get their act together if they knew we weren’t there to be their savior anymore.

the USA gets a lot of economic benefits from being in NATO. The US and the EU are each other's largest trade partners and nobody is going to risk messing that up. Especially since the European energy market is now up for grabs and 64% of US LNG exports went to the EU last year and that is expected to rise in the coming years.
I’m so sick of this tired arse argument. As if trade only happens between countries that have mutual defense treaties. China is our biggest enemy and also our 2nd biggest trading partner behind Mexico. And Mexico just took that throne a few months ago.

Perfect, sounds like a great time for us to step back and let the Europeans finally grow up and take care of themselves.
The entire point is that is what is happening. That does not mean that we shouldn't help.
If we end up in a war with China, we will very much want European help, even if the UK is the only European nation likely to join us militarily. Europe decision on whether or not to impose economic sanctions on China and stop doing business with them would be critical to a favorable outcome in that conflict.

but perhaps demilitarized and neutral would be possible.
No. Pretty much this entire thing revolves around Russia not wanting to lose the Sevastopol port for their black sea fleet hq. They were leasing it, and it was headed toward non-renewal in 2017 once a us friendly administration took over in ukraine until Russia took over all of crimea in 2014.
Zero percent chance russia agrees to demilitarize crimea.

Ukraine has finally moved armored vehicles past the former Russian defensive lines outside Verbove.

Notable development. After weeks of mostly small-scale dismounted infantry assaults, it looks like Ukraine's 82nd Air Assault Brigade is assaulting with armor again towards Verbove past the anti-tank obstacle line with Strykers, Marders, and MaxxPro MRAPs.

Are you seriously contending that our economy is not in an inflationary state? Or, that we aren’t in out of control deficit spending? Actually, it’s not even arguable that we have drained the Treasury. We are spending money we don’t have. And you Zelensky fanboys want us to continue to send them 100s of billions of dollars? At a time when Russia couldn’t beat Vanderbilt and Western Europe is more than capable of handling their own affairs?
What is your definition of hundreds of billions of dollars? So far Congress has approved 111 billion USD and the Biden administration wants $24 billion more. That $111,000,000,000 was approved over 2 fiscal years which means the USA has approved $55,000,000,000 per FY. Meanwhile the US budget for the FY22 and FY23 were ~$6,200,000,000,000 and ~5,500,000,000,000 for a total of ~$11,700,000,000,000. That means that the money the USA has spent on Ukraine is about 1.2% of the total amount of money that the USA has spent in the last 2 years. You could cut Ukraine's aid down to $0 and it would not affect inflation at all.

I doubt it.

Good but I won't get excited until Ukraine has sent the 93rd Mechanized Brigade in. Right now they are still in reserve so Ukraine must not be expecting a major change in the situation in the near future.

I’ve given plenty of reasons why it’s not valid anymore. I don’t have to do so everytime someone posts the theory.

Ahh children, it saddens me to fight the same GD idiots over and over again. The same argument was made in the 1930s with the Germans. I get along fine with Germans even the old SS guys. They had some legitimate points. One of them is we would get to exterminate all the communist idiots in the post. (Lol)
However, as a fiscal conservative, I get the spending issue, but seriously the DOD spends 10x this on black projects no one even knows about. They lose billions in their sofa cushions and have never passed an audit.
So seriously, at least you get to see your money in action

Any of y’all make your way over there yet?

Regardless of whether or not this is a prioritization of domestic security for Poland (understandable) or related to the grain lawsuit this isn’t good for Ukraine longer term in this war. Poland has been a major benefactor to Ukraine. Interested to see if the Baltics start to follow the Polish model as well.
