Just ran across this pretty detailed take on what happened with Prigozhin. I'm sure there's an inaccuracy or two, but the basic seem solid.

If nothing else, the Russian Army has a long history of making incredibly strong defensive lines.

I’m guessing this is the Ukrainian Army of Drones and that graph is listing Russian losses?

PMC "Wagner" will cease to exist, the fighters will be able to leave or sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense, said State Duma deputy Viktor Sobolev.

"This is an illegal armed formation. There should not be any armed people in the state who are not subordinate to the state. As a result, it led to a rebellion. We were on the verge of a civil war," said Putin's deputy.

By the way, not everyone is ready to join the Russian Defense Ministry: only those who did not take part in Prigozhin's "march of justice" will be able to sign a contract.

This was stated by Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski.

?????????? Kherson direction | August 28, 2023

In the Kherson region, the command of the AFU is preparing for operations on the left bank of the Dnieper. The main strike is planned in the direction of Aleshek from the islands of Buryakovy, Antonovsky and Alekseevsky.

To reinforce the tactical group "Thunder" in the vicinity of Kherson, assault units of the 121st brigade of the territorial defense of the AFU were deployed, and recently artillery crews of the 406th Artillery Brigade of the AFU were moved to the coastal zone of the Dnieper

Now the AFU are testing the tactics of landings in small groups, using a bridgehead on the islands. One of the recon groups tried to land on Kozulikhsky Island by boat at night, but was destroyed by artillery strikes.

At the same time, artillerymen and mortars are intensively shelling the front line, and reconnaissance drones are looking for the location of air defense systems and personnel deployment points.

Today's flight of a Tekever AR3 drone destroyed in Crimea from Shirokoye to the south through the Kherson region indicates that the AFU used a hole in the air defense to fly to the Crimea. And during the movement, the most important objects of the RAF were probably occupied.

Also, the attacks of the HIMARS have again become more active. Yesterday, two high-precision missiles hit the Iron Port, and target designation was provided by the same Tekever and Bayraktar.

I just checked out the unit deployment on militaryland.net. It looks like Ukraine is attacking NP but their main effort if to the east. It looks like they are trying to take Hill 166 which would allow them to bypass NP. Ukraine has deployed the 47th Mechanized Brigade which has some of their Leopard2A6s to lead the attack for Hill 166. Also it appears that the reformed Azov brigade is leading the attack in the Vobotyne direction. Ukraine is holding the 82nd Air Assault brigade and its Challenger2s is reserve behind the Robotyne area and out of artillery range. I wonder if this is in preparation to exploit a breakthrough, being ready to repeal another Russian counterattack, or if the Challengers are down for maintenance after 4 days of nonstop fighting.

Hill 166 is the highest terrain feature in that area of operations. Losing it would be a big blow to the Russian. Per militaryland.net's map the Russians do not have a lot of units in reserve in the area. If (big if) the Ukrainians punch a hole (especially if they gain control of Hill 166) unless there are tons of minefields in between Hill 166 and Tokmak then Russia will not have much to hold the Ukrainians back and Ukraine would have the high ground all the way to Tokmak.

the resistance has drones...

Ukrainska Pravda in English
@pravda_eng

In the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, an explosion occurred in the improvised "barracks" of the Kadyrov Chechens. The operation was carried out by the local resistance movement in coordination with the GUR of the Ministry of Defence

Information on the number of killed and wounded "Kadyrivets" is currently being clarified

After a series of explosions, the occupiers urgently evacuated the local military-civilian administration. Currently, Enerhodar is undergoing inspections and has limited access to the Internet

Yes, that's the same area that I talked about yesterday as the site of a rumored breach in the Russian line. We haven't heard anything more about it today, which likely means either than it was wrong, or that Russia countered and retook the area.

But I think it's pretty clear that's what Ukraine is trying to do.

Exactly, for your posts. Straight Russian propaganda. You've stopped trying any pretense of the objectivity you once promoted, much like BKR.

Given how little footage we have seen after several days from either side versus the size of the operation claimed (mainly off Russian thermal video) to be taking place suggests to me two likely scenarios since I expected to see more footage from either side after 5 days .

First and most likely is that the situation is still ongoing and intensive so the focus is on operations rather than building narratives via social media.

Secondly and less likely is that Ukraine has met with a good degree of success and they are maintaining OPSEC as they continue to push while Russia doesn't have anything good to show so are keeping quiet.

I have to disagree, at least in regards to that post.

The Ukrainian claims of success run counter to many similar attempts and so far we haven't seen any footage to support this one. This doesn't mean that it can't have happened but means their claim is unverified.

Intelcrab is by no means a Russian propaganda source, they are a middle of the road source that leans moderately towards Ukraine. While the footage they posted is poor quality there aren't any overt indicators of explosions having occurred.

This coupled with the lack of corroborating footage is a decent enough combination to question the Ukrainian claim.

For the record, I would prefer Ukraine to have been successful. It would indicate they have found a way to spoof Russian AD and being able to strike airfields at will until Russia can adapt right now would be a significant boon for the counter offensive.

Edit: Clarity

If this article is accurate this is closer to happening than we realise.

They have all those sunken ferries but that doesn't necessarily protect the gateway where ships pass, only the causeway portion. The drone boats and subs wouldn't be needed once in range of HIMARS.

Details: Ukrainska Pravda's sources indicate that kamikaze drones attacked four Su-30 and one MiG-29 aircraft.

Also, S-300 radars and two Pantsirs are among the struck targets.

Please point out the five destroyed jets and at least two AD systems. They have to be there, the SSU wouldn't lie.
