I know I posted about the Ruble breaking the 100 mark against the USD. It has bounced back almost 5% today and is at 95 to USD

And now some other news

quote:

A senior Nato official has apologised and clarified his comments a day after he said publicly that Ukraine could give up territory to Russia in exchange for Nato membership and an end to the war.

Stian Jenssen, the chief of staff to the Nato secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, told a Norwegian newspaper that he should not have spoken as simplistically as he did, after his initial comments prompted an angry reaction from Kyiv.

At a panel event in Norway on Tuesday, Jenssen had said that while any peace deal reached would have to be acceptable to Ukraine, alliance members were discussing how the 18-month war might be brought to an end.

“I think that a solution could be for Ukraine to give up territory and get Nato membership in return,” Jenssen told his audience, noting that discussions about Ukraine’s postwar status were continuing in diplomatic circles.

A day later, he gave an interview to the same newspaper, VG, that had reported on his original comments. “My statement about this was part of a larger discussion about possible future scenarios in Ukraine, and I shouldn’t have said it that way. It was a mistake,” he said.

But Jenssen did not walk back the idea that a land-for-Nato-membership deal could ultimately be on the table. If there were serious peace negotiations then the military situation at the time, including who controls what territory, “will necessarily have a decisive influence,” the chief of staff said.

I didn't say the US did anything wrong by taking kids out of a warzone in Vietnam, just pointing out the hypocrisy that it's now considered kidnapping. I guess Ukraine would prefer to leave them where they are and use them as cover like they did in Mariupol.

Crazy4LSU is the definition of a troll. The last few pages of his post history are nothing but "You're retarded", "you're insane", "You guys are down syndrome", "your brain is fried"

Right. See this kind of disingenuous garbage is what hurts whatever credibility you may have had. "Just pointing out the hypocrisy" doesn't fly when everything you post is pro-russian and/or anti-american. Which is your recent history itt.

I think the lack of progress in the Ukrainian counteroffensive is really starting to break some of you guys. Why do y’all take everything so personally?

Here's a gem from the PB

quote:

Yes, Russia won. Do your research. Last time I checked the ratio was 8 to 1 in favor of the Ruskies. And all them fancy high-tech tanks the West sent the Ukes? The Ruskies destroyed them. Massive concentrations of artillery fire tends to neutralize armour.

From analysis of the conflict, it appears the Ruskies have halted their advance waiting to see what Creepy Joe Biden and his NATO stooges are going to do. NATO/Biden has a meeting scheduled this week to decide what to do next. But one thing for sure.......they want Zelenskyy's head, as in gone. Not all is lost for Zelle, as he can always go back to one-night-standup comedy gigs playing piano with his 'juke'.

I'm thinking the decision to dump Zelle means the Biden / NATO coalition intends to push ahead with their attempt to dethrone Putin. Anyway, the Ruskies are watching and waiting. It ain't over, till it's over.

For myself, the lack of major movement in the lines has reduced the amount of time I spend paying attention to the war. It has become a stalemate reminiscent of WW1 trench warfare.

I have stated in the thread several times that I overestimated Ukraine's spring/summer offensive capabilities. I think the lack of air superiority has hurt Ukraine more than I thought it would as I thought Ukraine was going to be able to compensate with drones. That didn't happen.

Do I want Ukraine to win, yes I do. Do I think they will win? that depends on the definition of win.

I think a reasonable argument could be made that Ukraine has already won by preventing Russia from taking over their country. Short of going nuclear, I do not believe Russia has the remaining combat power to take over all of Ukraine.

I suspect that barring some major change, the war will end with the lines close to where they are today and Ukraine will join NATO in order to gain security from further Russian invasions.

I have a hard time calling that a win for Russia. Russia decimated its military capability, gained some additional territory, and would end up with three new NATO countries on or close to its borders (Sweden, Finland, and Ukraine). It's hard to see how that's a win for Russia. ETA: Russia's invasion also caused NATO countries to increase their defense spending, some significantly.

Do I take it personally, not in any sense of the word.

I think the regular pro Ukrainian posters believe the counterattack has been a dud. A few are still optimistic that there will be some sort of. breakthrough.

I think all the regulars are aggravated that tolls partial to Russia and who desperately want US policy to fail keep coming here posting nonsense.

I think it has more to do with the recent influx of the troll brigade than anything else.

That said, I find many of the posters who come into this thread wildly misrepresent it such as this post from Colt a few days back

Geaux, do you believe that accurately reflects this thread? I don't.

People are just tired of the trolls. Colt has had at least one other username that was banned from this thread and has come back. SirWinston is just a terrible troll who has also been banned but they continue to allow these people back in here. It gets tiring.
