Probably a dumb question but would hitting mine fields with the cluster ammunition help "clear" those fields? Is it just more efficient to use sappers?

So Russia spent the last 6 months making an almost impenetrable line of defense in the south. They used up a huge amount of Ukraine's effort to get no where against this line. Then they quickly build up a huge force in the north and smash through a porous line of Ukrainian defense line. This is what looks to be what is in the near future.

I'm pretty sure Ukraine has committed less than half of its new forces so far. So not using up a huge amount of Ukraines effort and should be able to pivot

Ukraine definitely has its own intel sources and easy to use satellite imagery which anyone can purchase

Russia is bombarding Odessa right now. It's especially destroying the port in the wake of the expiration of the grain deal.

The problem with using them this way is two fold:
1. they don't disperse very consistently or not consistently enough when it comes to minefields
2. the bomblets spread over such a wide area 200-300m that the relatively low numbers of them don't produce enough overpressure to set of mines, especially AT mines, to be very effective.
I am not saying they can't be used in a field expedient fashion to reduce the number of mines but you still have to clear and proof lanes. There are simply better uses for them. If you had an unlimited number of shells and an unlimited number of tubes it might be a different discussion.
I see an analogy like having a 12 gauge shotgun with 60 or so pellets in the shell and shooting at one hundred 2 inch dots randomly inside a 5 foot circle at 50 yards. You might hit a couple and get very close to a couple more but to hit or get very close to even 50% of the dots you are going to have to use a lot of shells.
Also, consider each bomblet only has a few ounces of explosives compared to a MICLIC line charge which has 5 pounds of C4 per linear foot of the charge. That amount of explosives only reliably clears an area 13 feet on each side of the line charge.
I know the post is stream of consciousness and I apologize for not cleaning it up but I hope it conveys the point well enough.

I forgot which character it is, it may be "<" or ">" but the software won't let them go through in a post.
