This is stupid, even for Russia. If intended as a false flag, it fails because now every radar in the region will be pointed in that direction to track anything in the air. If it’s intended to distract from another point of attack, I guess it would make sense, but it doesn’t seem like it would be terribly effective, as this put everyone on high alert.

Another village retaken. Closing in on the defensive line.

Apparently, the July 4/5 power plant bombing has hit Telegram channels.
Since Russia has been evacuating its people for a week, it’s clear who has been planning. The propaganda is aimed at the uninformed domestic Russian audience.

I’m guessing Ukraine will throw more units at the offensive when they reach that line?

Ukraine’s forces are only about 4 km outside of Robotyne now. The town itself is pretty insignificant but the major point being you bring Tokmak into conventional artillery range, which it might be already with the CAESAR or PzH2000. Most importantly though it puts Melitopol at the edge of HIMARS range. I expect Ukraine to start hammering targets there just as they did when the Russians held Kherson.

A lot closer than that -- the latest reports I saw were that Ukraine was only a single field away from the northern edge of town.
But Ukraine is now trying to push south to the east of the town.

I agree. I still think that the focus in that sector is to get closer to key Russian transport hubs to pound Russian logistics, so that the push further east (south of Velyka Novosilka, the Vremivsky Ridge) can ultimately break through.

I’m trying to find a reason for Ukraine to irradiate their own country and coming up blank

Ukraine is a puppet in the Rothschild's plan to depopulate the world via nuclear war. Keep up.

Making Melitopol untenable for the Russians to keep supplied could destabilize the entire southern front. This is where having regular civilians behind enemy lines are going to be the most crucial in order to give Ukraine intel on strike targets.

The reporting from the UK today is stunning. Admiral Sir Tony Radakin is the head of their defence chiefs of staff, the equivalent of Gen. Milley for us or Gen. Zaluzhny in Ukraine.
Radakin gave a speech to Parliament and engaged in some Q & A in which he made some important claims. From the Financial Times:
Months ago, Perun's video on the topic of artillery shell production came to the conclusion that Russia could hope to produce some 3.4 million shells per year.
One million shells per year is only 2740 per day. If that is indeed what Russia is reduced to, then they will lose this war decisively, as they have been firing several times that recently.
If, as many now believe will soon happen, the US were to give Ukraine DPICMs (cluster bombs), then Ukraine will have a substantial artillery edge over Russia.
The last believable reports that I saw a few months ago indicated that Russia was making about 30 new tanks per month, so Radakin is saying that they are making even fewer than that.
That would explain why there's new video today of another Russian tank loaded with ancient T-55s, heading towards the front.
Other reports have indicated that other plants are refurbishing another 60 or so tanks per month, in addition to the 20 or so brand-new ones that Radakin says that they are making.
Russia has averaged visually confirmed losses of 4.3 tanks per day, according to Oryx, and we know that real losses are higher than that.
I have said it before, but the conventional wisdom that Russia is the beneficiary of a longer war is WRONG.

I don't do that to myself, but if whatever OT 6.5 to 8 I'm currently sleeping with enjoys doing that to me, I certainly don't stop her.

I would be stunned if at any time during this conflict the Russians have more than 60% of their available tanks and weapon systems operational, really be surprised if it were over 50%.
First of it their shite sucks.
Secondly, they historically have never maintained a proper supply of spare parts etc
