I think this is deeper than a tactical feint.
Wagner is openly saying the justification for invading UA was a lie. That’s different….very different.
I could jive with Priz being the “anointed” one to take over from Putin and the plan is a fake “coup” that ends with Putin thrown out a window and Priz saying “this was a lie, we’re making Russia great again” and reintegrating back into global society.

Frankly, I imagine this has been planned for over a month. I think the ultimatum from the MOD for PMC fighters to sign with Russia was an attempt to rein this in. They knew it was coming and wanted to force Wagners hand.
I thought the demand was bizarre but now it makes sense.

He would be hunted worldwide for a short time and then he would be dead.
Pigozhin hasn’t spoken against Russia or really against Putin. His beef is with the leadership at the MOD. Even if his troops hang someone in Moscow, he still wants to carry out genocide in Ukraine. He just seems to disagree on matters of strategy.

Expanding on my theory that Wagner was compromised...Ukraine sent the Free Russia Corps into Belogord so that Prigozhin could offer to relocate Wagner there. When he wasn't allowed to do that (Possibly because the MOD already sensed something) he takes Rostov instead. Had he been allowed to relocate to Belogord then perhaps the plan was for the Free Russia Corps to join with him for a run on Moscow.
It all fits together, but we may never know if I'm full of shite or right.
Either way it was a win-win situation for Ukraine.

Dude has been sick for a while. But if he can't put down a coup attempt he won't last long in power. Russian hate weak leadership more than they do the West.

Yeah, you could feel some weirdness when prig was saying how good UA fighters are. He was tacitly trying to break ranks with Russian media and signal to UA his openness
