One hypothetical from this is if the borders are that lightly held, where have all the border forces gone?
This strike and the lesser one towards Bryansk earlier does make me question if Russia hasn't drained them to make up numbers in Ukraine.
Given their numerous claims of bombing in the Belgorod region and Ukraine's intention to cross into it, along with the numerous static defences installed, it does beg the question why were they so unprepared, at least initially?

It will force Russia to pull more troops to defend border areas such as this, which will leave fewer troops on the front lines in Ukraine to defend against the upcoming offensive.

In Belgorod, in addition to the FSB building, the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was also attacked from a drone, the VChK-OGPU

There are wider views available; however, the pricing on these is based on the size of the area you want to view so I limited it to just the base.

EarthCache from SkyWatch
https://skywatch.com/earthcache/
ETA: It appears anyone can sign up for the service, before they activated my account I had to have an email conversation with one of their sales reps discussing my use case.
I just told them I wanted to buy a few images to satisfy my curiosity.
When you use their tools to select an image you want, it can take several days to receive it.
The base image my selection was cut out of, was only $900.00 for the entire area.

I’d prefer we spend our treasure on countering China in Pacific, Africa and South America(among other things). The war in Ukraine isn’t even important. It’s a fricking sideshow that should be dealt with second tier sideshow countries like Western Europe.
Europe has plenty enough money to fight this war on their own without us but they refuse because frankly they’re a bunch of pussies. We’ve paid for the defense of that continent for long enough. It’s not like they’re going to stop trading with us or gain influence over us in other parts of the world if we don’t guarantee their defense so the whole buying influence with weapons to retain our hegemony line is just bullshite.
What I think is going to happen is that China is going to attempt to 'vassalize' Russia, which allows US interests in Europe and the Pacific to align.
Also, why is China a threat and why is European security related to China in a direct way?

But that was only because we convinced the English and Dutch to join our embargo. The Japanese would have had no need to invade the Dutch Indies if the allies had still been trading them the oil, rubber, and other resources they needed.
I'm begging you to go read something on the topic. The Japanese had eyes on all of Southeast Asia before the embargo was put in place. Please think about this before you respond.
quote:
Would Japan have needed to attack the United States or the colonies of Great Britain and The Netherlands had they not been actively engaged in an embargo as a punitive action to curb Japanese aggression in China?
Why did Japan make plans to invade those held areas before the embargo went into effect?
quote:
However, had the allies remained neutral and continued trading with Japan, would Japan still have attacked those colonies in order to ensure supplies of those resources? I’m not sure they wouldn’t have, but they would not have NEEDED to do so.
You don't know what you are talking about. I'm begging you to stop being such a retard.
quote:
The Japanese were absolutely the aggressors, and the way they treated the Chinese was absolutely barbaric. However, embargoes are weapons of war. An embargo is simply a softer blockade.
Again, there were two embargoes before the oil embargo. Neither of the two previous efforts worked to stop Japanese aggression. The Japanese saw conflict as inevitable, all the while the US was negotiating with them.
You don't even understand or care about what you are implying. If I need anyone to provide a nonsensical, ahistorical view of any political event, I know I can count on you.

People constantly paint these what ifs to put responsibility in the US.
If we wouldn’t have taken economic measures to try and stop Japan, there wouldn’t have been Pearl Harbor.
If we wouldn’t have encouraged Ukraine to become more democratic and western Russia would not have invaded.

Corruption, dysfunction, mismanagement, poor human capital, inability to delegate authority at the top, a system build on lies....

Yeah it is so incredibly stupid. You have to remove agency from everyone else and simply believe that the US is a near omnipotent power that can ensure peace through some magical process. It has become especially egregious, as exemplified by muppets like Tracey, who apparently believe that only things the US does is worthy of criticism/analysis/reporting. It is so fricking boring.
