China has been dragging their feet on giving Russia anything worth a shite to wage Putin’s war. Compare that to Iran. China and Russia may be “Allies” but China would benefit from Russia failing and is already encroaching on the Siberian border for their own purposes.

We would prevent that of course.

Guess what? That's called putting America First.

We can do things that no one else can.

Deal with it.

Maybe we would finally get a border wall.

Well, that's certainly a bold statement to be making in March. I guess we'll find out.

This laughable straw man has been posted here hundreds of times already. I hope you didn’t strain yourself to think too hard coming up with it.

You are blinded by emotion and ideology, and are not seeing who is truly in charge of US foreign policy.

If you could think clearly, you could see that the Pentagon has set this up perfectly.

A master class of foreign policy IF we defeat China.

You in particular regularly advocate for what the US should be doing that we're not doing. It's explicitly and undeniably political.

Again, mischaracterizing the arguments of others' because you don't like dissenting voices is incredibly disingenuous. I don't like discussing this on PT because I don't want a political debate. I want a foreign policy discussion, which this thread should be the place for.

I try to only post political things in here that directly relate to the war -- which weapons the US should give to Ukraine, for example.

Personally, I think that a broader foreign policy discussion belongs on the Poliboard, but I understand why you'd want to have it here.

I know you understand how often this board suffers from real trolls. I'll try to be more careful in my characterizations.

It's not laughable. It's exactly what adding Ukraine to NATO would be from Russia's perspective, and is one of their stated reasons for invading.

They've been saying they would do this for decades, but I guess we just assumed they were lying for some reason.

It's really weird that you're talking about China. We have no intention of confronting China at all.

Well according to you and Rogers logic, in that scenario, we would be justified in invading Mexico. Glad we could answer that for you.

No we aren't. All we're doing is sending money we don't have to a conflict we shouldn't be involved in.

And they've been right. We haven't done anything. All we've done is spend money.

at a minimum the supplies we sent have stabilized the front, and allowed Ukraine to recapture area in the east and south. Our aide has made the cost for russia a lot more then they had to have figured.

And IF (Big IF as the onus is now on Ukraine to do something with the weapons they have been supplied) ukraine can mount a series of successful offensives, and retake more territory, then the western aide will have paid off.

In reality, what is happening is China is about to broker peace between Ukraine and Russia while we take a step down on the world stage. But at least we sent a bunch of money and weapons to Ukraine, right?

right now neither part is ready to a peace deal. russia feels it can still win on the battle field and they have more territory to take and Ukraine isnt ready to give up that land and feels they can still take it back.

Uh, my response is to someone demanding me/others leave the thread. I don't *want* anything. I'm explaining why the justification for that demand is dishonest and histrionics. I'm hardly even engaging with anyone and I've certainly never trolled this thread.

This is so far gone from reality it doesn't even make sense. China wasn't involved in this at all until we decided to help the Ukraine, and their involvement now is strictly related to negotiating a peace agreement we could have negotiated months ago.
