Poland has everything to lose if Ukraine falls.

Since Poland isn't under threat/attacked there will not be Article 5 activated.

If that's what they want to do we should let them.

Probably responsive to all the Russia spew about securing the "Polish Plain"

But, since before the invasion Poland has moved mountains to get itself on a wartime footing.

My son is there now and he and a few other people I trust have said the same thing, Poland is training for a land war with Russia.

NATO membership seems off the table for Ukraine in the foreseeable future. I wonder about mutual defense pacts with it's neighbors outside the NATO framework, most notably Poland.

Well their military has transformed from a year ago.

And they are nationally motivated. The last time the Israelis went in to Lebanon 40% of their reservist didnt show. When Poland mobilized a year ago it was well in to the 90% participation. Thats strong.

If Ukraine does not secure guaranteed security alliance(s) there will be no investment and/or rebuilding plan after the war. No one will touch that place.

Russia screwed outside investment in Ukraine O&G when they took Crimea and stole all the foreign companies' equipment in the Crimean portion of the Black Sea. It is impossible to foster foreign investment when a belligerent neighbor may come and steal it at any time.

Just imagine what this would look like a year in if the other obvious European NATO members had the same mindset.

The Council on Foreign Relations called it a territorial dispute up until three days ago apparently

That’s an encirclement the size of the French quarter in New Orleans. That’s barely anything.

Probably true. In 20 years hopefully it'll be the same difference as East/West Germany was in the 50's/60's.And I'm betting the Europeans will help much with the rebuild than what we tried to do in Afghanistan alone.

Since Putin is saying that as well, makes it unanimous. Never was about Nazis LGBT, Jews, bioweapons labs, werewolves or NATO

These are words taken out of context and twisted. He said throughout his speech that if Ukraine loses the war, it should be expected that Poland will face war. (Intention: Russia will not come to its senses of its own free will until it is defeated).
Don't wind up an emotion pls

I’m beginning to fear part of this issue with this is going to be the brewing financial crisis & the Europeans high debt to gdp. The Germans have forced austerity before in the EU and could again as global finance becomes more stressed.

Good point. Though one of decent things to coming out of this war is going to be the growing influence of the Eastern bloc countries lead by Warsaw in the EU. Them plus Romania/ Slovakia are going to (hopefully) put some pressure on should Paris and Berlin forget that Ukraine exists after the war ends.

The Syrian government gives them a percentage of every oil field that they capture and hold because the Syrian army can't.

Anyone remember a few years ago when there was a "mixup" in Syria and Wagnger attacked an oilfield that a bunch of US Special Forces guys were there?

I saw a YouTube video on it last night where our guys took out about 200 Wagner and Syrian Army guys in about 4 hours? They had a recorded phone call from the Wagner commander that was there and he described the absolute pounding we gave themlike it was just hell on earth. We did a classic ambush on their convoy taking out the front and rear vehicles once they were told there were no Russian soldiers there and the oilfield took some small arms fire. Then proceeded to unleash hell with HIMARS, M777's, F22s, F15s, B52s, the now infamous MQ9 Reaper and C130 gunships. I wish I could remember the name of that video and post it because that Wagner dude describing it was funny as all hell. They were (still aren't) in no way ready for the type of anthill they kicked over. The commander said that it had even crossed his mind that someone sold him out when the Americans called and were told no Russians were there as some kind of punishment for something he may have done in the past.

ETA: Didn't realize you had mentioned it and Sorry for the hijack, that comment just reminded me of that video and I chuckled remembering that Wagner guy going crazy at how bad they got their asses kicked. Battle of Conoco Fields.
