Moldova is one of the poorest countries in the world, I'm surprised they have an airport.

Moldova better get some help. Their army is almost nonexistent. Moldova is the poorest nation in Europe. But they are known for their Moldovan wine.
You know why you aren't hearing Russia threatening Georgia? They own the Georgian government again. Oligarchs Georgian Dream party got elected there based on false claims that they were pro-western. That Oligarchs financial ties all lead back to Moscow.

Their best hope is some mutual annexation with Romania that gives them some special status in the union, but I doubt Romania is very keen on that given Moldova’s economic state of affairs. They have nothing really positive they’d bring Romania, just a drag in their economy and security.

I would say that at least half or more of the country is pro-Russian. Although during the last election a very pro-western government was elected. The previous one of Igor Dodon was pro-Russian. He leads the Socialist Party, which is the old Communist Party. He is Putin's man. The economy is really bad because of energy costs/covid/ the war, etc. Russia set them up for the kill on the energy restrictions/costs. Moldova is probably ripe for the taking and Putin knows it.

Reuters: Momentum shifts in US toward providing Ukraine with long-range missiles, fighter jets

The U.S. is inclining toward sending long-range missiles and fighter jets to Ukraine, Michael McCaul, the Republican chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said, according to Reuters.
McCaul said the Biden administration and the National Security Council have yet to decide “how fast and what weapons” to deliver to Ukraine.
“But I’m seeing increasing momentum towards getting the artillery and planes in,” he said. “And in any event, we can start training the pilots now, so they’re ready.”
According to Reuters, McCaul was part of a congressional delegation that traveled to Kyiv the day following U.S. President Joe Biden’s surprise visit to the capital.
