I read this response often. If we get to the point where we need to find sons to send, there will be a draft. Your sons (and daughters) can then go to Iceland or Canada.

No one in here wants this to happen. That doesn’t mean we can’t commentate on what’s going on now in direct comparison to history without it being a shock.

I’m 32, have a good job even though it’s stressful, two young daughters and a wife. I don’t want this shite to happen and need a draft to go fight it either. The only lottery I’d ever win in my life is a draft lottery so it would be my arse over there if it came to that. Whether I want it to or not, what’s going to happen is going to happen as far as my control over it. I’m keeping up with it daily out of interest and to know what we’re potentially facing.

There is no one in this thread who advocates for putting American boots on the ground. I sure don't want it to happen, both my daughters are married to active duty servicemen (1 Army, 1 Marine). I don't want either of them anywhere close to Ukraine under any circumstance.

And the best way to keep that from happening is to stop Russia now instead of two years from now when the stakes are even higher.

No one understands that. The Russian exploit demographic time bombs under the guise of protecting ethnic Russians. Guess what countries next after Ukraine have large ethic Russian communities? The Baltic's. This war is solely because up until this point Putin has never experienced defeat under his leadership and he was embolden by that.

If we're going to confront the Russians I'd rather in be in Ukraine where no Article 5 obligation is required than in Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia where we would have a real hard choice to make.

Your argument is old, tired and doesn't even apply to Ukraine.

No, but I'd love to see them in the air.

HIMARS can't reach Mariupol as far as I know. I wonder what the Ukrainians are using.

Any ideas on what the Ukrainians are using?

Ukrainians are pretty resourceful. They could have made some DIY modifications

They are very resourceful.
Their lives, and the lives of their families depend upon it.
And, unless one is historically tone deaf, the security of our own families (even in Miss.) are implicated by these events today in Ukraine.
Agree with you that stakes will be much higher, and soon, if Putin is not stopped here.
Nobody wants to send their children to war, but the chances for that improve dramatically if the aggressor is not stopped.

Location is the E584 highway junction with Demyanivka.

So it does appear there is indeed some Ukrainian military movement to the border of Transnistria.

Still going to wait for more evidence but the rhetoric is increasing concerning the region for sure.

So..
Does this mean we have to hide our bio labs in Transnistria, too?
This is annoying.

I don't know a NYT article in December said they were able to modify their MiGs to use them?

Yeah those were used to attack (very effectively) radar sites.
