Useless against tanks but they can be good infantry support and can take out APCs and IFVs. If they are used correctly they be effective but you are screwed tanking on a tank.

That dude would probably be up for some serious hardware in the form of medals in the US military. 3 different weapons in a 30 second clip taking out 1 enemy vehicle and at least 2 enemy soldiers. I can't imagine the adrenaline dump he got when he saw the Ruskie coming over the hill with rifle in hand.
Here's the full video with original sound (instead of music). Definitely worth watching to get an idea of what CQC in trenches is like in Ukraine right now.

I saw a comment that was supposedly from the Ukrainian guy in the video indicating that his teammate was paralyzed with fear, which is what it looks like. Of course, he's not completely paralyzed -- his reloading still helps the two of them survive.
I also thought that it was interesting that the Russian shot at 1:00 is wearing mixed camo: he's got winter white pants and a "tree" jacket. I never thought about it before, but I guess that's actually a good combo, as from a distance, he probably looked like a tree in the snow.

Heh, Germany may HAVE to spend on defense when they realize that Poland can take them whenever they feel like it.

Apparently, in addition to Macron announcing the delivery of the 14 AMX-10 RC "light tanks" that they had previously promised, he also committed 25 AMX-10 P. This is a tracked IFV (like a Bradley or a Marder), but this is an older and more basic vehicle that was withdrawn from French service in 2015.
Beyond that, we also got confirmation that France has delivered Akeron systems to Ukraine. I'm just learning about these, but they look awesome. They are the successor to the Milan ATGM, but the Akeron has a 4 km range (the Javelin is only 2.5 km). The Akeron can be used in fire-and-forget mode, or the operator can watch on screen and adjust the target. The missile has both infrared sensors and high-speed image processing to acquire its target, which means that it can be used to attack targets beyond visual range. The launchers for this missile cost 350,000 Euros each, so it's definitely not a cheap ATGM.

Jesus they are about to be one of the deadliest militaries on the planet, maybe Belarus will engage them so they can get some practice in on killing Russians

If we haven’t already we should make sure Poland has at least 100 tactical nukes and enough long range to wipe out Russia and a lot of China.

Putin: Thank you for agreeing to come.
Lukanshenko: As if I could disagree.
I will say this, of all the despots in all the world, Lukanshenko is the funniest. A real quick wit. He’s like a Belarusian, slightly more evil John Kennedy

And in Russia is going to take it up the pooper in May news:

quote:
The first class of 635 Ukrainian fighters has finished a five-week advanced U.S. training course in Germany on sophisticated combat skills and armored vehicles that will be critical in the coming spring offensive against the Russians, the Pentagon said Friday. Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said that additional training is already underway at the Grafenwoehr training area, and will involve about 1,600 more Ukrainian troops.

Here's a pic of Muradov receiving the Hero of Russia award in 2017:
The guy just finished destroying an entire Russian unit and over 100 armored vehicles ... and it gets him promoted.
This is what Wagner's Gray Zone blog had to say about him last week:
It's the kind of thing that makes me wonder how far out of the loop Putin is. Did someone falsely report to him that the Vuhledar offensive was a success? Or is Putin actually properly informed and "promoting" him to a desk job in Siberia? I dunno.

Saw a video on Twitter of Putin meeting with Lukashenko. He was sitting in a chair and his feet/legs were moving spasmodically.

Looks like Poland is heating up the conversation with the U.S. and everyone else about finally sending them their 2 squadrons of Mig-29s that they have left in active service. I think this is going to happen in the next 1-2 months. They have orders for around 32 F-35s as well as T-50 light fighters from South Korea. Theres no reason we can’t send Poland 10-12 f-16s that we have pulled out of active service to fill the gaps of losing their Migs until they get their orders filled for new aircraft. Their pilots can jump in it and fly right away. F-16s would be great for Ukraine to have that kind of capability but they won’t help them now. Russia is about to get be its final push and Ukraine needs all the weapons they can get to hold the line and then come after their arse in the spring when they have western armored vehicles and tactics. It’s going to take a decade for Russia to replenish what they have lost in this invasion.

It looks like Poland will be the preeminent power on the European landscape.
I haven't really paid attention to Polish politics. Is this simply a response to Russia's belligerence or is there any other agenda at play? Are they going to take Kalingrad back? Russia couldn't stop them.

quote:Probably promoted to deflect the growing criticism of the Vuhledar operation. Reminds me of 'Dugout' Douglas McArthur. Unprepared and out-manuvered in the Phillipines, he ran away and deserted his command. To try to reduce the criticism, FDR gave him the CMH. Probably had to have a clothes pin on his nose when he did it.
