Would be helpful to have a breakdown of WIA permanently disabled vs fit to return to duty. Tough to get that specificity. Heat signature, wounded. No heat signature, dead.

Now I can’t the ending the James Bond film The World is Not Enough out of my head.

But you think that the aggressor who has displayed terrible tactical operations and have 4 times the documented equipment loses as the defender who has displayed fairly decent tactical operation so far have close to the same number of casualties?

Yes. And they can sustain the losses more easily than Ukraine. Ukraine is losing troops that are western trained which is worth a lot more than losing a bunch of ex-con conscripts. Each loss hurts Ukraine more than each loss hurts Russia.

I agree, no one knows the real numbers.
So why would you purport to know?

My guess is as good as anyone else’s. And I think it’s just an educated guess as all the others.

Yes, he needs to keep Ukraine within his realm of control. Energy contracts with IOC's and Caspian countries & ME gas producers have been trying to get gas to EU market Why do you think Putin is in Syria? Why are Azerbaijan & Turkmenistan finally considering the Trans Caspian pipeline, because Putin is neutered, he cannot win a regional war with small border country.

See where Azerbaijan just skirmished with Armenia in Q4 2022, it effectively killed Putin's CTO. Armenia asked for help, and Putin couldn't afford to send help because of the arse kicking they are receiving in Ukraine

If Germany commits to spending more on defense they have to cut spending somewhere else. The bureaucrats guard their slice of the budget like crazy which means any plans to increase defense spending are going to face a lot of internal obstacles before it is actually implemented.

And this rationale just strikes me as utterly penny wise and pound foolish. If Russia has any success on the battlefield in 2023, the pressure on Germany to spend on defense will really ramp up. Germany’s defense spending can stay at near nothing levels only so long as there is no Russian military threat. Anything other than a clear repudiation of the Russian army in Ukraine ends up with a destabilized Europe and a need for Germany to really contemplate the need to defend itself.

The leaders want one thing but the nonpolitical midlevel career bureaucrats who are compromised by Russia

Now this I believe. The German leadership is trash. Gerhard Schroder should legit be tried for treason in Germany and his ex-wife is the “spouse” of the new German defense minister. These Germans leaders are bought and paid for by Russian petro-dollars, and are fundamentally sympathetic to worldviews that reject American/UK led western supremacy.

Dow
Germany paid billions to cleanup all the environmental disasters at former East German chemical plants. Dow was part of this cleanup, with over a billion spent at one site they "purchased". The German engineer who headed it wasn't worth a crap when he headed up the UCC dismantlement project of all the closed units at Union Carbide sites in the USA. I met him, was not impressed in the least. However, Dow's management thought the he was the cat's meow. He gave contract of identifying what was what at each site to URS. URS engineers couldn't tell the difference between stainless steel and carbon steel.

The most senior US general estimates that around 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or injured in the war in Ukraine.

Gen Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, also suggested that around 40,000 civilians had died after being caught up in the conflict.

Video of a kill zone from yesterday. While I think the casualty numbers are inflated seeing footage like this makes the numbers at least seem possible.

You show up being argumentative and disputed what the Norwegians reported.
At least you finally admitted you were guessing. But if you don’t mind, I think I’m going with what Norway is reporting.

That was two months ago so his estimate now would be higher. Thanks for bringing evidence to the “trial” and not a guess.

WeeWee, think this will be of particular interest to you:

quote:
A Johns Hopkins anesthesiologist and her spouse, a doctor and major in the U.S. Army, were federally indicted for attempting to provide medical information about members of the military to the Russian government.

Anna Gabrielian and Jamie Lee Henry, who had a secret security clearance as a doctor at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, communicated and met with an undercover FBI agent who they believed was from the Russian embassy, offering sensitive medical information on military members and their family, the indictment alleges.

During an initial Aug. 17 meeting in a Baltimore hotel room, Gabrielian told the undercover agent that “she was motivated by patriotism toward Russia to provide any assistance she could to Russia, even if it meant being fired or going to jail.”

Her spouse had access to not just medical information, she said, but insight into how the U.S. military establishes an army hospital in war conditions and about training the military provided to Ukrainian military personnel. Henry participated in a second meeting later that night.

“My point of view is until the United States actually declares war against Russia, I’m able to help as much as I want,” Henry told the undercover agent, according to the indictment. “At that point, I’ll have some ethical issues I’ll have to work through.”

“You’ll work through those ethical issues,” Gabrielian replied.

I hate to revisit this post from 3 months ago, but it popped up when i searched for his name and tigerdroppings. Beats bumping one of the poliboard threads... but I actually know james henry. Went to church with him and my brothers both attended the same small private school. I just found out about this and I'm floored.

I know a trans Dr/Russian spy, who signed up to assist Russia because they invaded Ukraine and we helped Ukraine. I absolutely can't wrap my head around these facts, at all. Just thought y'all would get a chuckle out of this story.

I don’t think you know what argumentative means.

Interesting. Can any of you tankers enlighten on the value of the uranium inserts vs the mentioned tungsten or any other substitute metal? Tungsten is the stronger metal.

No. Its an approximation, but I would put a good bit of money on it being + or - 5%.

Well we can agree to disagree.

Not that it really matters. The war starts anew in a few months when spring comes around.
