@Faytuks From the NYT: There are growing hints from troops on the ground, and volunteers close to them, that the Ukrainians are preparing for a new land offensive south through the Zaporizhzhia region towards Melitopol

They are basically a Ukrainian dune buggy that they have used quite a bit especially in their counterattack in the north where they just got behind the Russians everywhere and caused panic. Ukraine uses a lot these versions and they have a good number of Polaris Ranger UTVs also that are modified to have some sort of machine gun or grenade launcher on them. They have made use of just about everything they have been given in creative ways, it’s really cool to see.

War drives innovation. I've seen the Ukrainians modify their MT-LBs by adding 2A19 anti-tank guns to them, adding a BRDM turret to M113s, not mention modifying the MiGs to fire HARM missises.

After Unconfirmed Reports yesterday that Ukrainian Forces had launched an Amphibious Operation on the Kinburn Peninsula, Russian Media Sources are now reporting that AFU Units have entered the City of Herois'ke as Heavy Fighting continues across the Peninsula.
But I would like to make it clear that these reports are still very much Unconfirmed and so far we have not seen any Visual Evidence of this Ukrainian Operation on the Kinburn Peninsula.

Ok, now do the sentence for non military people in plain English. Or PE for you guys.

He is saying that they added a 100 mm anti tank gun to an old soviet APC that didn’t have anything of that type of gun besides a light machine gun and they added a small turret like are on old Soviet lightly armored vehicles to the top of an American M113 APC that did not have a turret on it before. Ukraine is generally a large agricultural country so you have a lot of country boys that are good with a wrench and welding machine so they have made use of weapons that not many would have thought to try.

Alright, that makes sense, great bang for the buck.
Like going hunting with a machine gun.

This is the next logical place. I doubt they can re-organize over there before winter sets in though, they'll spend at least a month stabilizing Kherson. Question is, do they press a conflict in the winter?
I would expect the bulk of the forces to reinforce the east for now until Spring. (Just my guess)

What language is that map in?

Italian. The map was a reference to what Solovyov said he wanted the border to be after Russia built his "new" army. Effectively he wants a return to the Soviet Era Warsaw Pact. No shocker there.

That 2022 map just reinforces the point there is no logical reason for the US to still be in NATO.

Since the formation of NATO, how many NATO nations have been attacked by another nation?

It really shows the magnitude of Putin's mistake in invading Ukraine. The future version of that map will have Sweden, Finland, and Ukraine all in NATO.

That’s not nearly enough soldiers for an offensive on Melitopol. I think both sides need time to refit and regroup though so we will probably see little movement in the short term. Probably trading artillery fire a few weeks. Of course Ukraine seems to strike when least expected so who knows what’s in store.

Ukraine has been storing manpower and artillery in that area since mid summer.
Give em a couple weeks.

They also have Krab self propelled howitzers with 1500 round barrels with 5,000+ rounds shot and counting on them and German PzH2000s that while great when they have been available seem to be pretty maintenance intensive. Not trying to sound negative at all just a simple fact on the battlefield. These are the times Russia’s dominance in munitions amounts really makes a difference. I’m confident Ukraine will hold the line like always though but after the offensive up north and taking Kherson I figured there had to be a slow down phase eventually. Maybe this is it, maybe they push one more time, it will be interesting to see how they play this.
