This conflict has proven that Russia isn't even close to being able to bring that kind of force to bear, and likely will never be able to again. You're fighting the ghost of a paper tiger.
1. Nobody thought that in February.
2. If the west lets Russia off the hook now, it would give Russia them 10 - 15 years with oil prices > $90 per barrel. Russia would be able to avoid embarrassment so Putin and his cronies will stay in power. It will also give Russia enough time for Russia to learn the lessons of this war, adjust its strategy and tactics, properly train millions of troops, and modernize the thousands of tanks and other piece of equipment it has in storage. Then it will try to put the USSR or the Russian Empire (whichever terminology you prefer).
3. The west needs to provide Ukraine with whatever it needs to fight, defeat and embarrass Russia now while the Ukrainians have the forces to do it.

That little 8 second clip explains why we spent all that money to help Ukraine. They are just another country that wants to be left to it’s own devices to govern themselves. We never break away from Britain if not for the French ‘s help of weapons, men and ships. They used what was given and did what the weapons were intended for, to destroy Russia’s military without dropping American blood while making another ally in the region with Ukraine. I’d say we got a hell of a bang for our buck and i am a staunch Republican but this goes beyond politics. It had to be done and we weren’t the only country that realized this and contributed. South Korea just gave them the best gift next to our battalion of worth of HIMARS in 100K 155 mm rounds. That just gave them enough artillery until the new year.

As a Jew let me just say I have no where near the ambition required of me to prove the idiots on the PT right.
Profiteer off orchestrated mischief through a global cabal?! I practically plotz if I can’t have a schtickle of a schluff after a trip to the hardware store.

In other news: The Pro-Putin tankies are now also Pro-Xi tankies.

Jesus, the libertarian party is such a fricking embarrassment.

Someone needs to fill me in on why the New Hampshire account became the de facto official account for the national Libertarian Party
But it’s the party branch that gets the most retweets and attention. And it’s nothing but edgelord contrarianism.
…and as someone who admittedly used to identify as a libertarian himself, I realize for a lot of people, libertarian talking points have always sounded like edgelord contrarianism. But prior to the rise of the Mises Caucus, I’d like to think it was a least thoughtful edgelord contrarianism.

I'm also not interested in spending a trillion dollars we don't have to help Ukraine prove a point, which is likely what it would take.
Same here but we aren't anywhere close to even actually spending $100 billion. We have cleaned out a lot of deep storage of thing we will likely never use though. Storage and maintenance actually costs real money so there is a savings on those items. Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures make zero sense to the average person.

And it’s all the more frustrating because Mises was extremely thoughtful and anything but an edgelord. I think the internet has prompted the edgiest fringes of every group to kind of take the reins in the last decade or so.

Libertarian Party has been a joke of a party from its beginnings

Granted. But to take Crimea? The Russians could surprise me with just how impotent they are, but in my mind, Crimea would be a meat grinder.

The rancor reflected in this remark I don't intend to dignify with comment.

I think it’s amazing that one of our old weapons, the HIMARS, is so effective against the Russians. It alone speaks of the technological superiority of the US and the West. I wonder if the Russians ever think about the new HIMARS and its capabilities.
Can you imagine if ATACMS were delivered to the Ukes? They would make short work of the Russian bases in Crimea. I sincerely wish Biden and the military would give them to Ukraine.
And this should concern all of our enemies greatly: US military's X-37B space plane lands, ending record-breaking mystery mission

It is all an illusion, TIL the M142s and M777s shipped to Ukraine were magically transformed into crypto and sent back to the US.

I am libertarian minded but not stupid. Up to around 2007, the only Libertarians I ever met, would have been in at a bar and they had been busted for dope and did time in the state pen, so couldn't vote. I do have a friend who is a member from when it was founded but he is very strong on national defense.
They candidates that I have seen them run for office are nothing but a caricature of my opinion of the party

It's true. They aren't actual libertarians at all.
