Germany just sent Ukraine 7 heavy bridge laying machines based on the Leopard 1 tank chassis as well as 5 armored recovery vehicles, 167,000 rounds of firearm ammunition, 183 generators, 35 heavy forklifts, 200 large tents, 116,000 winter jackets, 80,000 winter underwear, 240,000 winter hats and 4,000 8x8 sleeping bags.

That same Twitter feed is reporting that there is a fire in a power substation in Belgorod. What's good for the goose...

I'm sure no one is going to lose their mind over this.

I have to imagine the Russians will just demolish and shell large swaths of the city once it has evacuated its assets and leave the Ukrainians with another rubble pile to liberate
I think you are absolutely right, but losing Kherson will be a shock to the Russian public. With each loss, the credibility of Russia's government takes a hit.

Literally makes zero sense. But most people are stupid so they’ll just nod their head and drool on themselves.

Strategic Reserve contains only crude oil. There is a heating oil (diesel) reserve somewhere which is for homes in the Northeast where heating oil is used for boilers in homes for hot water and heat. It is a Fed program enacted under Bill Clinton. It's all above ground tank storage at three locations.
Many homes in Europe still use oil for heat, that has lessened in the USA.

Home heating oil which is still common in Europe but not as much as it was 25 years ago in the USA. It's just plain old diesel, not ultra low sulfur diesel for transportation fuel.

Imagine driving down that highway and just seeing a fricking b2 descend from the sky

That’s neat. What the frick does that have to do with this made up “war footing” and opening up the SPR?
Posted on 10/19/22 at 4:45 pm to blight
There is no connection to the SPR from Refineries on the East Coast. YOu know tht right?

It has zero to do with the SPR. The home heating oil reserve is a completely different animal. Journalists generally don't know shiite from shinola, sort of like politicians

Good they are going to need them. Per my sauce(s) who aren’t in the Kherson region but are relaying information from sauce(s) in the region. The ground is starting to firm up enough for vehicles to move, but the creeks and the ditches are full and the culverts and small bridges along the roads have been blown. The Ukrainians are going to need their engineers to get scissor bridges across those obstacles when they move.

Military guys- any significant movement on the Kherson area??
Posted on 10/19/22 at 6:38 pm to jeffsdad
Uke news blackout so who knows. Russians are only speculating what is going on.
Posted on 10/19/22 at 6:47 pm to WeeWee
Yeah that was my first thought when I saw they were sending bridge laying machines and recovery vehicles. You know exactly where those are heading. I figured they would take their time with Kherson as they have taken away 90% of what Russia can supply to their troops in the area. The only way they are coming across are by barge/ferry and Ukraine has been targeting even those with it’s HIMARS or by old BMD vehicles that are amphibious but it is minimal what they can carry. It looks like Ukraine wants to make a hard push though and hopefully capture men and equipment as well as keep Russia from retreating with all their equipment and then just shell the shite out of Kherson. It’s very clear all along that Ukraine wants to do all everything they can to keep Kherson intact.
