I believe that Putin is the most competent leader in this world event right now as far as achieving his goals. Savvy and genius are relevant terms in this case.

I mean, Putin is clearly highly intelligent, but no. This is the result on having a weak President. Here’s the type of guy Putin is: he once commented on an NFL player’s Super Bowl Ring, asks if he can inspect, and then he just walks off with it with no fricks given. The US is not going to be the aggressor here. If you think attacking Russia or that they are outmaneuvering NATO you are an idiot. Putin is a literal dictator. He doesn't answer to anyone. Dictators always have more direct power than republics. Those powers include military and the economy Communism is a command economy. Putin can and does direct it with a stroke of the pen. Republics rely on capitalism/ free markets, as well require a congress to pass a budget for government spending. Did you not take a civics class? Have you ever ready anything about power? Machevelli, Sun Tzu? Anything?

Agreed, but Putin's power isn't unlimited. His hour speech the other night laying out reason for invading Ukraine was to try to win public support at home for this invasion. If Putin stops before taking the whole of Ukraine, it's because he doesn't have the full support at home to get dragged into a large war. Not because of US/EU sanctions.

If they attack Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania or Poland we will have no choice but to fight. Both because of NATO and because I think if Russia is invading multiple countries, that would be when someone needs to step up to defend freedom and sovereignty. The US would have to do the bulk of the fighting but I think the former Eastern Bloc countries would help because they don't want to go back under Russia's thumb. Western Europe won't do shite. The people are far too docile and traumatized by the World Wars and they will fold in case of a war.
