I agree with you fully on this.
The great Toilet Paper shortage of 2020 will be child’s play compared to a full turnoff of the cheap Chinese goods pipeline. I am not sure we would make it 6 weeks before real unrest broke out.
I bet 90%+ of the items on retailers shelves (including Amazon) come from china.
ETA. In your mind, visualize your standard retail outlet (any of them brand doesn’t matter) now visualize that same store without Chinese products. Almost every single chain including the worlds largest company, WalMart, would go out of business quickly for lack of products to sell.

The US makes more toilet paper than we use here. Mills ran up way beyond capacity to keep up with demand to 800% of the normal year. Fricking hoards and I bet some have an attic full of shiite paper

That happened to me with wife and pumpkins 20 years ago. I had to go out of town on a week long biz trip when they began to rot and stink up the front porch and she had to clean it up. She hasn't bought another one since

The largest producer of raw lithium in the world is Australia. 5 times the amount of china. There are no resources in the world isolated to just China. Now refining capacity and finished product is like 75 percent. But refineries and processes can be built.

Commercial and consumer TP are completely different supply chains. When you couldn't find any in stores we could always get as much as we needed through our janitorial vendor.
