There are less and less chances to escape: a mobile military registration and enlistment office has appeared on the Russian-Finnish border.

Conscripts will be handed subpoenas there. They can also sign up for the war as a "volunteer".

Quite interesting that a explosive drone was found near Nord Stream (1) in November 2015, by the Swedish Navy. It was of a type used to clear mines by the Swedish Navy. It had been lost in a previous exercise.

FWIW, the designed path of Nordstream (1) had been warned that it was going through unexploded ammo dumped there post WWII.

I’ve been saying for a couple weeks now this was only a matter of time and frankly long overdue. Look what they have done with just 16 HIMARS. Now they can double their coverage. It’s going to be a long Rasputitsa
I don't believe these are coming directly from US stocks , but future build . It doesn't appear they will get these 18 anytime soon.

LINK / " The additional HIMARS will be given under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, meaning they won't be coming from pre- existing stocks & instead will be newly manufactured & sent to Kyiv once finished ". The DoD website confirms this is more a long term investment. Six to 24 months delivery on the weapons listed in this package.

I would hope that they could at least send the longer range missiles for the systems they already have.

According to the GUR

UPDATE ON UKRAINE 29 September 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE

In the seven days since President Putin announced the partial mobilisation there has been a considerable exodus of Russians seeking to evade call-up. Whilst exact numbers are unclear, it likely exceeds the size of the total invasion force Russia fielded in February 2022.

The better off and well educated are over-represented amongst those attempting to leave Russia. When combined with those reservists who are being mobilised, the domestic economic impact of reduced availability of labour and the acceleration of brain drain' is likely to become increasingly significant.

The 18 HIMARS were shipped two days ago, order was already completed about 4-5 days before that from what I’ve heard.

At some point things are gonna get tense with the locals in Georgia with the flood of Russian expats driving up housing costs.

Plus they can only stay a year. They'll have to find somewhere else or hope that Putin is either dead or has a short memory if they have no choice but to return to the motherland.

Fourth gas leak discovered on Nord Stream pipelines
September 29, 2022 10:28 am

Spokesperson of Sweden's coast guard Jenny Larsson on Sept. 28 told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper that a fourth gas leak on the Nord Stream pipelines had been discovered.

On Sept. 26-27, three leaks on the Nord Stream pipelines were discovered.

Larsson told the newspaper that two gas leaks were in Swedish waters, while the other two were in Danish waters. The gas is leaking into the Baltic Sea.

It doesn’t seem the attack has made much headway anywhere other than the north near Kharkiv.

The Russians are using the Oskil River as a defensive line. It’s a formidable position especially since the fall rains have started. However, the Ukrainians have established 3 bridgeheads over it and are steadily pushing the Russians back and 10 km per day. Lyman which is the key geographical terrain feature and road and rail check point is the western and northern parts of the Donbas so the Russians are actually fighting for it. The Ukrainians have almost encircled it and should finish encircling it soon. They are making slow and steady progress, but geography and the weather is slowing them.

I continue to rely on my folks for up to date information. Especially in the area of logistics and supply. Maybe DOD needs to refresh their browser lol.

There’s already a picture of the 18 HIMARS being loaded at a port. They will have them very soon.

After the announcement of mobilization in Russia, President Vladimir Putin went on vacation.

This is evidenced by the stories of three sources familiar with the president's schedule.

A video with Putin, in which he called Russians to the front, the Kremlin published on the morning of Wednesday, September 21. It was recorded in advance, rather than broadcast live (at such a time - 9 am - Putin is usually still asleep). Later that day, Putin traveled to Veliky Novgorod, where he attended a technical school and a concert.

Immediately after the concert, according to my interlocutors, Putin began a break in public activities, and it will last at least a week. To disappear from the public space unnoticed, Putin made a lot of "canned food" - pre-filmed bilateral meetings that the press service publishes at the right time to create the impression that the president is constantly working. The Kremlin has already revealed the first of the "canned goods" – a meeting with the head of Dom.rf, Putin's old "St. Petersburg" comrade Vitaly Mutko.

The Kremlin plans to use "canned food" at least until next Thursday, when the president has a visit to a major industrial region on schedule, one of the interlocutors familiar with Putin's schedule knows.

Another source says that since last Wednesday evening, Putin has been resting "body and soul" at his residence on Valdai in the Novgorod region. FBK told in detail about it: next to the main house of the official residence there is a three-storey SPA complex with a cryochamber, a mud bath and a float pool. There's also a hockey box in the area where the president likes to gather friends and play hockey, one of the sources said.

Of course, Putin cannot go on vacation for a week without a connection. On Thursday and Friday, he held telephone talks with the President of Turkmenistan and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Also on Friday, the Kremlin's website published news of a meeting with members of the Security Council. However, the latter could also be "canned food", sources say.

But the most interesting thing is that Putin did not come to Friday's Z-concert in the heart of Moscow in support of "referendums" in the occupied territories of Ukraine. According to his press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the reason was allegedly work in the Kremlin.

To my questions whether Putin is on vacation and whether he spends it at Valdai, Peskov answered in the negative.

From what I have been reading the Russian military bloggers are well and truly concerned about situation around Lyman. Russian forces there may have to decide between fleeing before they are encircled (leaving behind heavy equipment) or staying in place and potentially being wiped out.

Down near Kherson the Ukrainian military seems content to continue limited attacks while hitting Russian logistics. Ukraine is playing it conservatively there by trying to limit their casualties while wearing the Russians down. I suspect their goal is to weaken the Russians in the area enough that when that the Ukrainians do drop the hammer Russian defenses will collapse like they did in the Kharkiv counter offensive.

Per my sauce(s) in Ukraine, the Ukrainian decided to lay siege to Kherson city instead of storming it. They are trying not to destroy their own city and don’t want to suffer the casualties of trying to storm the city. Kherson is far enough south that the Dnieper River is not going to freeze and form an iceroad for resupply. The Ukrainians can use HIMARs and artillery to keep the city cut off and the Russians will eventually run out of food and ammo.
