?????????? Attack on Donbass: the situation in the east of Ukraine
by the end of September 28, 2022

??Kharkiv direction:

??Ukrainian formations continue to make attempts to break through the defense of the RF Armed Forces at the Liman 1st - Tavolzhanka line. The Russian forces managed to repulse the attack of the assault detachments of the 14th brigade in Tavolzhanka, the enemy was forced to retreat to regroup.

??The Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to gain a foothold in the area of ??the Kupyansk-Uzlovaya station and Kovsharovka. According to some reports, after intense fighting, the RF Armed Forces left Kupyansk.

??Russian troops attacked the areas where the M777 howitzer crews of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located in Dvurechnaya. At the same time, the RF Armed Forces worked on manpower, equipment and enemy facilities in Golubovka, Kupyansk and Senkovo.

??Liman direction:

??Ukrainian units made an unsuccessful attempt to storm Liman from Dibrov. At the same time, the next offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Ozerny and Shchukovo ended in failure.

??On the northern flank, Ukrainian formations established control over the village of Katerynivka. At the same time, the enemy is making attempts to occupy the territory near the village of Kolodezi in order to cut off the road from Svatovo, through which the group in Liman is being supplied.

??The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues in the direction of the village of Borovoe, the Ukrainian units have fortified themselves in the village of Peski-Radkovsky. Mobile groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine operate in the area of ??the southern outskirts of Podliman.

??On the western flank, Ukrainian units are advancing from two directions to the Shandrigolovo area: from the north, the Armed Forces of Ukraine occupied the village of Sredne and, according to preliminary data, Novoselivka.

??Russian forces managed to repulse another attempt of the enemy attack on the village of Drobyshevo.

??On the entire sector of the front, Ukrainian formations suffer significant losses in manpower and equipment. To make up for irretrievable losses, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is transferring reserves to combat zones.

??Luhansk region:

??Ukrainian formations using HIMARS MLRS fired at civilian infrastructure in Lisichansk, Alchevsk and Perevalsk.

??Donetsk direction:

??The Russian Armed Forces during the offensive near Maryinka and Pesok did not achieve their goals and suffered losses

??The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine put the unit of the 68th brigade on full combat readiness for a possible counteroffensive on the positions of the allied forces in the area of ??Prechistovka and Pavlovka.

??Zaporozhye direction:

??The Ukrainian command of the "Dnepr" grouping continues to draw up manpower and equipment to carry out the planned offensive against the positions of Russian troops in the Orekhovsky and Gulyai-Polye sectors of the front.

??Subdivisions of the 65th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine intend to make another attempt to attack the positions of the 35th brigade of the Russian Armed Forces in the Nesteryanka area.

??The RF Armed Forces worked on enemy military facilities and infrastructure in Zaporozhye, Stepnogorsk, Novonikolaevka and Stepnoy, part of the shells were shot down by air defense systems.

This is good to know. Right now is the decisive time we need to support Ukraine opps right now. This is probably the weakest Russia will be (unless the domestic political situation for them implodes).

We should combine Obama's 'Cash for Clunkers' with a 'gun buyback' program except for the metric shiton of Toyota Hiluxes (Hili? Hilex? What the frick is the plural of Hilux?) in the Middle East. They already have the mounts and those areas need the money.

White Toyota Hiluxes might stick out like a sore dick in the breeze in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine has plenty of vehicles to turn into technicals, but they need vehicles to move supplies from their railheads to the front. Send them Toyota Hiluxes with all terrain tires to carry ammo and food to the troops. That way a winter offensive does not outrun its supply lines like the September offensive did.

Sending the Ukrainians a few dozen freight locomotives would not hurt either.

What did he throw at them, a smoke grenade? It landed right at the other guys' feet but both just walked away.

It was probably a fragmentation grenade but the Russian probably forgot to pull the pin before throwing it. I posted a picture this morning of a Russian soldier firing an RPG at the enemy with the safety cap and pin still attached to the warhead.

Kremlin to hold back on illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories.

According to independent Russian media outlet Meduza, the annexation will be postponed as it now won't have the desired "PR effect" on the Russian population that is dissatisfied with mobilization.
LINK

The Russian people are not responding to the mobilization with the enthusiasm like the Kremlin had hoped. It is becoming increasingly obvious that Russia was planning (and probably still is planning) on annexing these occupied territories and calling the fighting in these territories an attack on the Motherland. The Russian people do not seem to be buying in with that narrative and will likely not rally to the flag anymore than they already have if the Kremlin tried to claim the Motherland has been attacked. Granted it is from Ukrainian media, but it is an interesting tidbit of information.

Also check out Putin's body language from his meeting with Lukashenko. Is it just me or does it look like Puin's body language is showing him as exhausted and worried? Is the Vlad the Great starting to worry that he is losing his grip on power in Mother Russia?

It doesn’t seem the attack has made much headway anywhere other than the north near Kharkiv. But I’m just looking at maps and haven’t really followed the past few weeks.

Also, who do y’all think blew up the pipeline?

I'd be amazed if any individuals at all cast any votes at all. From the Russian point of view, why waste energy pretending to collect votes?

Because when you announce results, without actually conducting even the sham of voting to put on video, people will try to delegitimize your already illegitimate (but with video!) evidence. Then, when they condemn you in an international body for conducting a sham referrenda, you can go back and put the clear evidence of voting in front of your public on television, showing that everyone else is just out to get you.

Looks like Ukraine is getting a little extra logistical help along with the HIMARS being sent and they really are brand new from the factory by the picture of them being loaded.
• 18 factory new HIMARS, each with their own accompanying reloading vehicles and missile trailers
• HIMARS ammunition but no ATACMS listed
• 150 Humvees
• 150 artillery truck & trailers
• 40 Semi-trucks and 80 trailers
• 12 Titan anti drone systems
• Radar equipment
• Secured communication equipment/radios
• Other various equipment for soldiers most likely cold weather/rain gear
• EOD equipment
• Body armor

Moscow was poised on Wednesday to annex a swath of Ukraine, releasing what it called vote tallies showing support in four partially occupied provinces to join Russia, after what Kyiv and the West denounced as illegal sham referendums held at gunpoint. My thoughts a few pages back:

quote:

Now that I’ve read through 12 pages of largely back and forth bull crap and off topic arguing, I find the pipeline sabotage interesting and hopefully at some point we’ll have some sort of credible evidence to provide answers. In the mean time, I have a couple of theories, or probably more accurate, related thoughts not fully developed:

Russian sabotage used for their own gain, whether domestic or international - the pipelines were both shut off, potentially for good, therefore potentially seen as sunk cost to Putin so not much lost in using for propaganda and/or alliance infighting if done properly.

Ukrainian sabotage, but would have to be with help - correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Denmark training Ukrainian troops on their soil? If so, potential operation beginning there out into the Baltic Sea.

US sabotage: potential political benefits with some propaganda the Russia is even further the aggressor and expanding their attempts to disrupt European energy, potentially with the US seeing the pipelines as closed potentially for good so minimal to no harm to European energy.

Nordic sabotage - mixture of political gain & economic gain. They’ve been threatened for their NATO application, they’ve aided Ukraine, history with Russia. Not sure that’s achieved by their sabotage. Economic - energy export growth to the rest of Europe and eliminating potential future means of Russian encroachment.

Poland: laundry list of history and current aid to Ukraine

Baltic sabotage: see Poland

Possibility of singular nations or potentially more likely a group of nations including the US, potentially in blessing only, to sabotage the pipeline to eliminate possibility of German concession to Putin at some point to restart the flow of gas and/or to send them a message we’re done with their waffling. shite or get off the pot. Thinking Poland, Baltics, Nordics, US, UK here.

Don’t really think anyone in the ME could pull this off given need for naval capabilities and the military traffic & monitoring in the region.

Make any kind of sense to anyone else? Just trying to think through possible explanations.

ISW Update

quote:

Russian milbloggers discussed Ukrainian gains around Lyman with increased concern on September 28, suggesting that Russian forces in this area may face imminent defeat

quote:

Russian military leadership has failed to set information conditions for potentially imminent Russian defeat in Lyman

quote:

The Kremlin could temporarily postpone announcing the annexation of Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory to better prepare the Russian information space and administrative organization, although September 30 remains the most likely date for some kind of annexation announcement. ISW forecasted on September 27 that Russian President Vladimir Putin will likely announce the Russian annexation of occupied Ukrainian territory on September 30 in his planned address to both houses of the Russian parliament.[3] The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on September 28 that Russia will “fulfill the aspirations of the residents of the LNR, DNR, Zaporizhia, and Kherson oblasts to be together with Russia” in the “near future.”[4] However, Russian State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced on September 28 that the State Duma should hold its accession sessions to approve the annexation of occupied Ukrainian territory on October 3 and 4

quote:

Russian authorities continue to send newly-mobilized and undertrained recruits to directly reinforce severely degraded remnants of various units, including units that were previously considered to be Russia’s premier conventional fighting forces.

quote:

Key Takeaways

Russian military leadership has likely failed to set information conditions for the potential defeat of the Russian grouping in Lyman, despite increasingly concerned discourse among Russian milbloggers regarding the potential for a Ukrainian envelopment of Lyman.

The Kremlin could temporarily postpone announcing the annexation of Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory to better prepare the Russian information space and administrative organization, although September 30 remains the most likely date for some kind of annexation announcement.

Russian authorities continue to send newly-mobilized and undertrained recruits to directly reinforce severely degraded remnants of various units, including units that were previously considered to be Russia’s premier conventional fighting forces.

Ukrainian forces likely continued to make significant gains around Lyman on September 28, advancing from the north along the Zelena Dolyna-Kolodiazi arc and from the southeast around Yampil.

Ukrainian military officials largely maintained operational silence regarding specific Ukrainian actions in Kherson Oblast on September 28 but stated that Ukrainian troops are continuing positional battles in unspecified locations to consolidate and improve their positions along the Southern Axis.

Russian forces continued unsuccessful ground attacks in Donetsk Oblast.
Russian military recruitment officials are openly contradicting the Kremlin’s publicly-stated guidelines for mobilization to meet quota requirements even as Kremlin propaganda is attempting to change the public perception of partial mobilization.

Russian authorities are beginning to restrict movement of Russian citizens into Russian border regions to cope with hundreds of thousands of Russian men attempting to flee the country.

I watched a YT video from DW. Never heard of it and it is a German outlet. It was an interview of Petraeus. He said Russia is most definitely losing and very likely will lose. And the said the winter will be awful for Russia because the occupied Ukrainians hate them. He also said there are guerrilla skirmishes taking place in the occupied areas. So now I'll look at your video link but I'm assuming he is worried and tired.
Well he sat there like a bump on a log.
