Kupyansk is not a village of 69 people. It was a city of 30,000 before the war. More importantly it is THE MAJOR HUB & CHOKE POINT for the roads and railroads supplying the Russian forces in the Donbas. Russian supply lines are very dependent on railroads, because Russia does not have the trucks needed to organize a red ball express like the western allies did in WW2 or organize massive supply convoys like the USA did in Iraq, and Ukraine's road infrastructure would not support it even if they did have the number of trucks needed. With the loss of Kupyansk this morning and the disabling of the railroads in Dzhankoi (Crimea) Russia has now lost 67% of the rail capacity that Russia was using to supply its forces. You love to focus on the economics of the war and if you really understand economics then you realize that the ability to move supplies is huge. If you understand economics like you claim then you should understand that Russia will not be able to supply its forces like it needs to stop the Ukrainians with only 1/3rd of the rail lines it had less than a month ago.
