New high-res satellite images of the damage at Novofedorivka airbase in Crimea on 10 August, including both natural colour and infrared images of the aftermath, have been published by
@Maxar

To really appreciate the high-res you need to zoom in.

Damn careless smokers. Russia needs to implement an OSHA type program ASAP or they may not have an Air Force left in the Ukrainian space.

I wonder which of the aircraft not destroyed is actually flyable after sustaining some damage. A couple seem to have been pushed to the side or are tilted to one side

One would think that if the few remaining planes were still operable, they would move them to a safer location.

Russia, Belarus military bases rocked by fire, explosions days after Crimea air base sees destructive blasts

Smoking has become an epidemic in Russia and has now spread to Belarus.

From what I can see from the satellite images the only aircraft that look like they have even a chance of being airworthy are 3 SU-24’s and 2 SU-30’s. There’s a very good chance 1 each of those SU-24 and SU-30 that remain sustained massive heat damage because they are very close to the the point of impact. Everything else is blown to shite.

If I had the guess, I'd say the Ruskies will try to fly them and hope for the best. What's the worst that could happen, comrade?

Looking closely the remaining aircraft were pushed to one side and leaning as if landing gear buckled.

Looking closer of the SU-24’s that was maybe airworthy clearly is not as it sustained fire damage to the tail and it looks like you are correct that either the front landing gear buckled or the heat caused the frame of the aircraft to basically melt and bend. The only ones that look to be ok are the SU-24 on taxiway, the SU-30 right next to it and across the airfield 1 SU-24 and 1 SU-30. So 4 aircraft look to be airworthy but again heat can mess with a lot of things that you can’t see in a satellite picture. There could be problems anywhere from the landing gear to the avionics on the remaining planes. Hopefully we can get another satellite image to see which planes Russia flew off the base and which are still there. There’s no reason to keep serviceable aircraft at a base that damaged.

It would be very interesting to be a fly on the wall in the meeting where the Russian military commanders had to explain this loss to Putin.

Has anyone calculated the cost of all those lost aircraft?

The SU-24’s aren’t worth nearly what the SU-30’s are but any military aircraft is an expensive asset. They list a squadron worth of them in one day. That hurts no matter how big your Air Force may be.

I wonder if the military leaders actually have the balls to admit to Putin that Ukraine has capabilities that they didn’t prepare for or if they actually try to blame it on troops smoking?

Military bases in Russia and Belarus were rocked by an outbreak in fires and explosions Thursday, just days after a Russian airbase in Crimea saw explosions that wiped out nine warplanes.

Russian media reported that a military housing unit was ablaze in a town outside of Moscow early Thursday but did not provide information on how the fire broke out.

A Belarusian news agency similarly reported that were several explosions early Thursday at the Ziabrauka airfield in Belarus’ southern Gomel region which shares a border with Ukraine and where Belarusian troops have been checked for "combat readiness."

And there were posters here last week doubting that the Ukrainian special forces couldn’t disrupt the transfer of North Korean troops to the battlefield.

Interesting video, I wonder if the tank commander did this on purpose or not?
