That was not me. So you lose.

Not only are you a coward, but an idiot as well. Your mother is right to be ashamed of you.

Driving up cost for sure.

At the same time, the idea of an Arctic Sea Lane just might not pan out. The cycle of Arctic sea ice waning ended 2 years ago, it is not going back up. Winter might be impossible.

The LNG terminal at Sakhalin Island is likely ice class as its oil terminal. Both are offshore.

Even with ice breakers, ships have to be ice class to transit such waters and still be insured.

I think few here are against peace talks. It's just that real peace talks kind of go out the window when one man decides he wants the land that belongs to another country. How much of your property are you willing to part with to stop your neighbor from attacking you? Probably zero. Ukraine shouldn't have to, either.

This is why people are calling you a coward. You are so fricking terrified of WW3 that you want people to just give away what's theirs in order to avoid it. frick that. You just want to hand Putin whatever he wants to pacify him until he gets another itch. frick that.

There are people in here "wishing a mf'er would" and you call them warmongers. frick that. Putin is the warmonger here, plain and simple. There is an enormous difference between being a bully and instigating and attacking unprovoked, and waiting for a reason to beat the frick out of the bully.

It seems like you were referring to me and now you are trying to crawfish out of it.

quote:

but you seem to refuse to address any potential downside of getting into direct war with Russia.

Yes, I did. Try about a 1000 pages ago. Those downsides are why I do not support getting into a shooting war with Russia unless Russia attacks NATO. If Russia attacks NATO then I fully support unleashing a big ars can nuclear death upon Russia and lots of prayer that our ICBM shield works.

quote:

So recognizing the potential of nuclear annihilation not only makes me a coward, but an idiot as well?

It does when you carry on a multipage argument with someone about only to find out that you arguing with the wrong poster.

Just go ahead and admit it.

Russia can afford to insure them just like it can afford to rebuild the Donbas. The RUB is the strongest currency in the world know. Don't believe me? Just ask LW or Sir Winston or Palmetto.

You’re for peace talks so long as Russia agrees to completely withdraw from Ukraine and pay the damage they caused.

Sounds fair.

As related to me in 2015 by a Russian CEO explaining investment in new technology by his oil oligarch boss is that crude oil costs $50 per barrel before breaking even. They wanted to monetize stranded gas at distant oil wells plus their funding came 100% from the World Bank which limited flaring of gas.

The $50 per barrel cost stuck with me.

BTW their technology didn't work, partially due a component commonly rented from companies like Matheson, Air Products, etc... was of Russian design and manufacture, a total piece of crap. The demonstration plant was built in Texas near Houston for two reasons, anything made in Russia makes especially among Russians wary of cooked books. The 2nd reason was to keep Putin's greasy little fingers out of any profits if it worked. He would get his cut when used in Russia but not outside of it.

BTW, all units were to be made in the USA, nary a one in Russia because Russian workers are grossly inept.
