Again, Turkey just needs to be removed from NATO. I know it’s not that simplistic and I know it has potential pitfalls for additional conflict, but to me it’s the same general principle as standing up to Russia. At some point you gotta frick around and find out for more benefit than avoidance.

he Russians are attacking Severodonetsk. That means they’re comfortable with the cordon they’ve created around Lysychansk and Severodonetsk.
Or, more likely, they are close enough to attack the city....

Rebel media say the Ukrainians blew the Donets river dam to slow the Russians down. This will trap the Ukrainian forces in Lyman though.
Boy you are one gullible communist aren't you? If you pulled your head out of your red arse and looked into the claim then you would see that the rebel media is straight up lying. They made up that claim using the footage from 5/14/22 of Ukraine blowing up dam on the Mironovskyi reservoir which is near the small city of Svitlodarsk which was blown to slow the Russian advance north. The only dam on the Donets river anywhere close to Lyman is a small dam south of Lyman which if blown would do nothing to slow the Russian advance because it would only flood Ukrainian control territory away from the front and vital to Ukraine's GLOC to Sevierdonetsk.

Too bad the CIA was not actually behind the Maiden revolution because a color revolution is needed in Turkey right about now.

One surprising thing is the lack of assymetrical warfare, except for perhaps the sabotage in Russia. I expected a lot of things going boom around the world, perhaps done by proxies of both sides. A renewed ISIS/AQ terror campaign in Europe or North America would draw a lot of attention away from Ukraine.

I'm surprised Ukraine hasn't gone for RF energy export facilities (perhaps they cannot).

I’ve also wondered about this. I kind of assume European nations have told Ukraine knocking out energy exports will make arming you more difficult. Fight the war but keep the gas flowing.

Same, but I still don’t discount it. We’ve got seemingly plenty of time in this war for some a-hole country/group to take advantage of hyper focus elsewhere.

There's a little thing called the Black Sea that will prevent that. Can you imagine being Romania and Bulgaria if Turkey drifted into another orbit?

Most definitely. On the Russian side, GRU has been running sabotage and assassination operations in Europe since 2014 in retaliation for a much smaller set of sanctions, so you know they've stepped up their game.

Yeah, the Turks are corrupt and authoritarian, but we're stuck with them. I'm sure this is just a shakedown and we'll get them out of an arms embargo or say some dirty things about the PKK and Erdogan will lose his objections to accession.

Both are in NATO as is Greece. Add Ukraine after this, he’ll we’ve invested enough in the first place. Turkey & Russia both surrounded by NATO. Develop rail and road trade from Ukraine to Greece and ship from Greece.

Russia's main energy export facilities are out of the range of Ukrainian, aircraft and missiles. It would take a special forces mission or a Russian soldier being careless with a cigarette to attack them.

A f**k load of GRU and Spetnaz soldiers were killed in the numerous attacks to try and kill Zelinski early in the invasion.

Well gas transit fees made up a nice chunk of the Ukrainian government's revenue before the war. I am sure they would like to keep the gas flowing in order to present a bill to Russia at the negotiating table. Plus Ukraine gets its gas from Europe and Europe is still getting a large part of its gas from Russia. So if Ukraine cut the gas off to hurt Russia then it would hurt itself too because it would cause even more of an energy crisis in Europe and Europe would stop exporting gas to Ukraine.
