It's a dark fishing spider I believe.

fishing spider

He won't be doing much fishing where he is, but clearly he's eating well anyway.

The only good spider is a dead spider.

That sumbitch has talons.

If my five year old saw that, he'd try to get it to bite him so he could become Spiderman.

On a side note, anyone else in South LA noticing a lot more brown widows lately?

Killed four in the last week on our front porch, along with about a dozen spiky egg sacs. A good friend found three today and four egg sacs under his carport. Oddly enough, in both cases, they were hanging out right next to outdoor electrical outlets.

It’s probably more afraid of you than you are of it.

My house had a fair amount of them on the outside after it was built. Also a few black widows. They are gone now, but supposedly the brown widows hate the black widows and would kill them. The browns are also supposedly not as dangerous as the blacks to humans

Yeah from what I read, they contain the same amount of venom but apparently cannot dispense as much when they bite. Either way, with a three year old running around the house, they weren't staying.

Killed them with fire, using a long Bic lighter lol

Neither are deadly to healthy adults.

Water moccasins are not deadly to healthy adults.

It’s the thought of it biting you that’s the bad part.
