This dude would piss me off to no end if he was the mayor of my town. What a clown. How about you focus on the real issues facing your city, of which there are plenty, instead of monuments of stone; like a real leader would.

Well to be fair it probably only took him 13 seconds to make this statement

Mitch Landrieu said, that a water feature to replace Lee's Circle tor represent Katrina and the healing powers of water will cost money, possibly $10 million to $15 million.

"Where are we going to get the money from?" Landrieu said. "Maybe we can put some public money up if everybody doesn't yell and scream about 'You ought to be filling potholes with that money.' I happen to think those kinds of public spaces are really important for the city and are worthwhile investments."

" The money could be raised through public-private partnerships," he said. It could be accomplished in time for the city's May 2018 300th anniversary

Every time I think I couldn't possibly hate the man anymore, he opens his mouth again. What a fricking piece of work.

His "base", by and large, doesn't give two shits about ANY of these silly statues.

Because Jackson was never part of the Confederacy. He died 15 years prior to the Civil War so there was no reason to take him down. Some people wanted to take the statue down but they didn't know shite about history and thought he was a part of slave owning.

What is the Native American population of NOLA? Not enough votes in it. Just Mitch showing his true colors.

he was told by liberals how much everyone would love him and re-elect him for removing the statues, and now he got the polling results on his upcoming huge overwhelming re-election victory, then he found out he is less popular then Hillary Clinton now.

He is term-limited. He can not run for mayor. He got special legislation passed last year so that he can remain in office until March or April of 2018 so as to preside over the tricentennial celebrations. New Orleans' mayors usually take office in January.

There have been petitions to the legislature to revoke that legislation. But even if it happens, the next mayor will be a political clone of Mitch Landrieu.

His only move, politically, is something national, and that's why the destruction of the other monuments, as it gives him credibility within the identity politics/historical ignorance of the national Democrat party. He knows he can't win anything that would require him to carry the entire State of Louisiana. It's why he's allowed his name to be floated for POTUS, that and his craven lust for political power.

At this point, he could ONLY win a race within the city limits of New Orleans, and those would be a step backward.

Jesus H. Christ...Then what was the fricking point of this whole monument exercise you pandering, steaming pile of democratic shite? It should be ALL or NONE. So, put the others back. What was different with the others?
Mitch the Bitch you are the worst thing that ever happened to NOLA...and yes, I am including Katrina.
You have destroyed this once great city, and I don't know that it can be saved. You, and the rest of your useless family members, are a Pa-frickin-thetic bunch of parasites.....and I personally know all of you, so that's not even up for debate.
