I like to name my dogs people names, like Steve or David, or James.

For example:

Oh that's my dog. You can pet him if you'd like, his name is Paul.

My next dog will be named "Trout". Is this a bad thing?

I had a basenji that I named Saint. (after the Saints)

My Dallas Cowboys friend suggested that I just go ahead and name him Fumble.

Heard from a breeder not to name it with a short name that rhymes with "no" because it's harder for the dog to distinguish the difference

I actually thought I was being original when I named my dog Roux. But obviously I was very wrong

A friend of mine has a cat named Fess (maybe his full name is Professor Longhair; I can't recall). I do like that one.

First name that came up when I was thinking of lame cliche names, though, was Roux.

Hunted with a guy whose dog was named Pizzarinctum. He called him pizz most if the time.

Knew a guy that called his dog Pita for Pain In The arse.

And I had one I just called Dawg.

I remember Duke being way too popular at one time.
