To me it has to be negligent homicide because he was speeding. If you cause an accident that kills someone and where breaking a traffic law, then I don't see how he won't be charged.
With respect to the deceased, she could have been involved in the reason. Directly or indirectly. Regardless, if he was operating, it's his responsibility to maintain control

He looks like somebody who has an ancestral family member who made a fortune that was eventually reluctantly passed down to him.

Generally even if the media knows a name, they don't release it unless charges are filed.
Are charges filed and charges pending the same thing? I really don't know but it looks like this may not be the norm for other cases. Here are 2 examples I found with 5 minutes of searching.
In this one impairment was obvious, and charges were definitely going to be filed. Could this indicate that charges are not likely to be filed in this case?
1 example from the Advocate
quote:
Police said Martin Nguyen was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curb and drove off the right side of the roadway. When the car began to flip, Hoang Nguyen, who was not wearing a seatbelt was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, police said.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, police said.
The State Police and the Advocate named the driver in this one even though no charges were filed and the driver's tox screen was clear.
Example 2
quote:
An Opelousas bicyclist was killed Thursday night in St. Landry Parish after a driver struck him from behind, according to State Police.
Zachary, of Opelousas, an a passenger in his car were wearing seat belts and were not injured, police said. Zachary submitted to a chemical test and was not impaired.

Well, in both cases you cited, the police had released the name. The police have yet to release a name in this case, thus (I can only guess) is why the media has not put a name out there.

Family will be able to get a copy of the police report and his name will certainly be on it.

I get that, I guess my question is why aren't the police releasing the name? They released the name of the driver in both of my examples, one where the driver was charged (released the name before charges were filed) and one where the driver was not charged at all.

Dude runs a successful Real Estate company in New Orleans and clearly has connections with people of influence.
The police are giving them preferential treatment.
What's not to understand?

I can only assume it's because they're still investigating.

Scrubbing social media is one thing. Embargoing media references and deleting your bio from your own business's website is tacitly admitting guilt, IMV.

We lived on the same street and went to school with each other for a little bit. Very unfortunate.

His picture is easily found on social media. How do we know that the links that people are saying were taken down weren't just broken links that had been that way before the accident?
