Anybody seen it? It seems to be an anonymous buyer

Being a sheriff in Louisiana is like being the LSU head ball coach. At any given time there are a whole lot of people itching for a reason to oust you.

Why pick Coursey as a place to throw him out?

Do you mean Gautreaux?
What do you mean Ousting him?
ETA: read the article. If a slightly understaffed substation and prison overcrowding are what ammo they have against him...maybe he’s going a good job.

I think Sid Geautreaux is at the VERY bottom of BR’s problem. In fact, I don’t think he’s a problem at all.

Heart of St. George. Maybe he can be our first police chief.

Sid is a good sheriff. Baton Rouge people (some) are the problem. I have no quarrel with what Sid allegedly said. It would in fact be great if we lived where no one had to be arrested. Won't happen but still desirable.
As to staffing, no doubt Sid or any other sheriff could use more patrol personnel. You have to live with what you budget allows.
Finally, I think this being a disgruntled former deputy says it all.

Doesn’t look like y’all read the article. Not anonymous at all. Dude that paid for the billboards put his name at the bottom.
And the figures say that one substation is 28% understaffed. That’s a hell of a lot more than “a little” understaffed. Love the spokes ladies excuses though.

While the billboards do not offer a solution to the issues, former deputy Shawn Cotten Jr. — who paid $4,200 for the billboards to be up all month — said someone, not him, will soon be announcing their candidacy against Gautreaux. Gautreaux is up for reelection this fall.
The billboards claim the Kleinpeter substation has been understaffed by 28 percent with more than 1,500 shifts left un-patrolled, numbers Cotten said he compiled by reviewing uniform patrol shift rosters from the beginning of 2018 through part of 2019.
The billboards also quote Gautreaux as saying "I wish I wasn't in the prison business," despite being the director of Parish Prison, East Baton Rouge's jail. The sheriff has said publicly he wishes that his office did not have to run the prison. "Sheriff Sid Gautreaux's poor leadership is costing us," the billboards say. "It's time we rid our parish of Sid." Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for Gautreaux, disputed the claims made on the billboards, saying the numbers aren't accurate and the sheriff's comments were taken out of context. She said Cotten's numbers on how many shifts went unfilled were inflated because he's basing his analysis on eight deputies rather than seven for full staffing levels per shift at Kleinpeter. While Gautreaux hopes to staff eight deputies per 12-hour shifts someday, Hicks said, it is seven currently. The Sheriff's website, however, does list eight deputies as the shift count, which Hicks said they will update.

I’ll say again, if an understaffed substation on the good side of the parish is your main gripe, you probably have a damn good man as sheriff

Sid isn’t the problem. The people committing crimes that act like they are victims are the problem. EBR is a microcosm of the entire country in that respect.
Being black isn’t the issue. Being a criminal is the issue.

Sid will be EBR sheriff as long as the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association says Sid will be EBR sheriff. Until then, folks are wasting time, effort, and money running against him.
ETA: I'd imagine that Together Baton Rouge has something to do with these billboards given their locations in the heart of (the proposed city of) St. George.

Yet, amazingly, this part of town didn't even notice this.
