With all the recent problems in law enforcement in the Baton Rouge area, i.e., BRPD and LSP, the sheriffs office has always seemed to stay above the fray. I see no reason for change in the sheriffs office.

I thought I read recently that there was a shortage of sheriff deputies???

Also I didn’t like the backing of the new mental health tax and a brand new public/private entity for the mentally ill when we already had an agency in place for the mentally ill.

Overall though I’ve thought Sid a good sheriff.

Sadly, this may be more of a reflection of Baton Rouge than just on the sheriffs department. The local agencies are starting to lose officers to places out of state. There is more of a drain than a lot of folks want to admit.

Only have so many resources.

I'd rather Gardere be understaffed. Why you ask? Protect the people that protect you. Let Gardere sort their own shite out until they want to cooperate with the police when investigations are going on.
