quote:

Rondeno’s role expanded at the agency as the board prioritized police spending. He took on a second role as chief compliance officer, acting as a kind of internal auditor with the aim of ferreting out waste and fraud.

As his role expanded, so did his salary. He was granted pay of $208,000 per year, nearly twice what his predecessor made. The board reduced his pay last month — to $197,000 — after lawmakers noted that he could not, by law, earn more than the superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, who earns just over $198,000.

this whole situation with this dude stunk to high heaven. they don't actually patrol lakeview either, to my knowledge

I think this is a state role.

You aren't wrong though. Also 100k aint that impressive for a manger role these days.

That list is all Orleans Parish employees. For a broke city, paying hundreds of people over 100k seems shaky at best.

Odd comment considering their first priority is to keep riff raff from taking over the lakefront

Im assuming you are competent at your job, would you do your equivalent position in city government for under $100k?

Quality people don't work for free. The idea is you are paying those rates because you want to attract competent candidates.

Now, hiring and maintaining incompetence is a separate issue that isn’t solved by reducing the compensation.

They suck at their job if this is the goal.

Why does a flood authority agency need its own police department? What do they do that can't be done by the regular city or parish police departments?

Political appointments by the governor as a thank you for being loyal. Nice little kickback of taxes into friends pockets.

Those salaries are absolutely crazy.

Do other cities pay that well for some of those positions.

Mosquito control making like 200k is wild.
